Had great weather so went back tonight.

had just under 1/2 tank (didnt plan on going this weekend) and DA was around 1800.

Run 1 was 12.18 @ 117.2 1.92 60’
Run 2 was 11.993 @ 117.77 1.8216 60’ new pb across the board. 1/8 was 7.79 @ 92.12
Run 3 11.955 @ 118.11. 1.841 60’
Run 4 12.03 @ 117.8 1.892 60’
run 5 11.99 @ 118.14 1.832 60’
run 6 12.08 @ 118.05 1.915 60’
run 7 12.51 @ 103. 1.89 60’ (hit limiter in 1-2 got out of it at end)
run 8 12.078 @ 117.96. 1.89 60’

Run 9 it was 10pm and DA had dropped to around 800.

11.8331 @ 119.21 1.8234 60’
1/8 was 7.6863 @ 93.46

there was a big rumbly monster next to me on slicks and I was motivated to try and keep up, was ripping shifts hard.

gas was 1/4 by now, fronts at 37 psi, rears 19-20

did 1 more run to try for that 1.7x 60 and spun hard off the line. Run 10 11.97 @ 118.86 1.922 60’

Time slips and videos below

Way to go, practice makes perfect at this game! Very fast shifts. Is this on street tires? Then it’s excellent driving. If on drag radials, try launching at higher rpm...your goal should be to eliminate that bog you hear and see at the launch. I floor it then start letting out the clutch. But you have to have drag radials and frankly I think my 4.10’s allow me to get away with that.

high 11’s are great so you are doing well. What are your mods again?

Base 2006, 142k miles. Vararam CAI, lightly ported TB (by me), Hinson LTH, no cats, 3” exhaust to slp loudmouth 2. 275/40/17 MT ET SS on c5z fronts. 390/390 tuned by Corey Henderson.

I kept trying to launch harder but when I would go back and watch video, I would still be in that 3.5-3.7k range.

Want 4.10’s and a fast 102 eventually, but it just isnt in the budget right now.

Here is last run of the night and most aggressive launch. It felt like it spun a lot (enough for rear to step right) but looking at video, maybe I should have stayed in it? Would be nice to have a bunch of data to analyze (throttle input, rpm, etc...need to get hp tuner cable and a cheap laptop)...and gears! And a fast102...might as well cam it and add a lil giggle gas. I need a second job, lol

Surprised you have wobble but you want to run as much pressure as you can and still get good launch traction. If you spin let some air out. I’d stay with 20 for now if I was you.

Hey Joe, what size tire you running on that lowered vette?
Still have the stock wheel well liners in?

Thanks...

Well crank pulley is starting to wobble so adding a 10% UDP and a bald eagle cam (227/234 .600"/.600" 111 LSA 109 ICL) dual valve springs, push rods, etc. That will be done and tuned in next 3 weeks (hoping they can get me in sooner) and then head back to the track to get some runs in with new set up and knock off the rust for cooler weather. Still have lots of room for improvement on 60’.

Best so far is 11.83 @ 119. Hoping new set up gets me in the bottom half of the 11’s and 122+ Once I get 60’ down (best so far is 1.8) I should be able to get into low 11’s.

Glad you brought this thread back to the top, I just read through the whole thing! (Skipped some of the technical back and forth. Lol)

Happy to see you stuck with it and achieved your goals. Can't wait to hear what your new round of mods produce! Have you ever changed/upgraded your clutch?

Yeah that clutch module stuff made my eyes glaze over too...lol. Too technical for me and I enjoy the challenge/control the clutch gives me.

I have only had the car for 2 years. Got it with 119k miles and is closing in on 147k now. I am beginning to wonder if previous owner did a ls7 clutch at some point as original clutch should have died by now... Plan to upgrade to double (probably a monster) when this one dies but it is still holding, so gonna keep pushing what I have as I definitely can’t afford a new clutch right now.

I enjoy going to track but dont have time/money to go as often as I like and it is just so hot here in the summer...

Here's a couple videos that might help with understanding the clutch module (ClutchTamer) stuff. These guys are at about the same power level as you as they run around 120mph in the 1/4mi. Here's a before video...
(results were 11.59@120.11)

Here's an after, be sure to read the comments below the video...
(results were 11.268@120.90 w/ 1.509 60')

They basically shaved 0.324sec off their ET, and have the potential to dip into the 10's with that configuration if they choose to push it that far. Car is also far less likely to break parts with the 'tamer's softer clutch hit.
They were using the under dash version which attaches to the clutch pedal, the version I mentioned earlier in this thread.

Here's a link to the new in-line hydraulic version specifically cars with hydraulic clutch release systems. It's electrically controlled and uses timers, so you can set it up to be active on launch only or active on launch+shifts. And also because it's electric, you can turn it off for casual driving...
Hitmaster system

That's great you are driving it and getting your enjoyment out of it! Most likely like you said, someone already replaced the clutch at some point and the LS7 is a cheap upgrade for sure.

I know what you mean about hot summers. I lived in Tucson for 9 years so most of the racing was done in the winter months.

Good luck with the new combo. I can't wait to read the updates!

DA is going to be about 2000' higher than your previous best. Don't get too upset if it runs similar times as before.

👍 will be focusing on 60’ (practice) and mph...will work on ET when temps drop to something sane

Shitty nite. As predicted DA was 3000+. I got there early and ran from 7 to a little after 8. Made 5 passes in that time frame. Timing system was hit by lightening so had to go up to tower to get slips.

first pass a bumped the limiter and it cut out on me. 1.8 60’

run 2 - clutch pissed, locked outta 2nd 2.0 60’

run 3 - clutch pissed, locked outta 4th. Ran 11.9 @ 112 coasting thru traps 1.8 60’

run 4 - skipped burnout to save clutch and shifted slow and purposeful but clutch locked up after going thru traps. didnt have my timeslip so ...

run 5
small burnout and still only trapped 119.5 (12.14 et) 2.0 60’

ranger flush and will go back when it cools down. Thinking a 1.6-1.7 60’ and 11.5 should be in the cards

That's unfortunate
I gotta tell ya though. And you might not like this.
You keep pushing that stock clutch, as it's clearly not holding up. It's gonna cost you a clutch and a transmission rebuild. I've rebuilt parts inside the transmission 3x in 4 yrs. A good solid missed shift is all it takes I promise.

i appreciate it. I think previous owner put a ls7 clutch in. Gonna try and find his contact info and verify. Is there anything I can do to help the situation short of dropping $$$$ on new clutch?

I thought trans and dif was pretty stout and able to hold up to the abuse, especially at this power level. Joe didn’t start breaking stuff til pushing for 10’s and that was with the 05 dif.
