Auto shifter recommendation - 1972 C3 - TH400
I have a 1972 C3 and I plan on drag racing it and want to buy a shifter that I can "slap" into the next gear without worrying about hitting neutral instead of 3rd gear (it does not have a reverse valve body). I also would like to do as little modification to the center console plate as possible. I do have another console plate if necessary, so while I'd prefer not to damage the original one, I can easily cut up the "spare", so that is NOT a major concern. One other thing I would like is to have a shifter that the handle does not interfere with the center gauge cluster...you know, not to long that it hits....so if anybody has done this and can recommend a shifter, please do so...or if anybody has one for sale let me know.

I had a Precision Performance shifter when I had a TH400. It is really nice and no missing shifts at all. It's not exactly small though. With a little fabrication, it would probably work.

Why not work on the governor to put the shift points where you want them. That's what I did for my 71 bracket car. Logger show shift point vary about 50 rpm, can't do that manually shifting. Just a thought. Ron B.
