Default Balancing Racestar drag pack

I just picked up a set of Race star Drag star 17" skinny's and 17" rears for my '09 Z06 and it seems like there is no room for wheel balancing weights. The front wheel is a 17x4.5 and the caliper really looks to cover the entire inside of the barrel.

Anyone running the drag stars that has had them balanced? If so, where are you getting the wheel weights installed?

Thanks,
Brad

I used clip on wheel weights on mine. Then put some tape over them for good measure.

I've got 18" RaceStars for my C7Z. There is enough room on these for the thin stick on weights on the barrel covered with tape to clear the calipers. The weights are pretty thin.

Is that the hammer on the wheel beads lip style? Feeling that area of the new rim, I wasn’t sure they would stay on. Seems very thick.

Thanks,
Brad

I looked at the stick on weights on my other wheels. No way they will fit between the caliper and the barrel. There is possibly a 1/4” space right at the spoke of the rim that is clear of the caliper, but it seems like to small of a space.

Thanks,
Brad

YES, I was scared when I first did it, that is why I added tape. I actually have Welds, I run them on the inside so you cant see them. Work perfect. I have over 100 runs on them now and no problems.

Probably the C7Zs with 18" have more clearance than the C6Zs with 17" wheels. Good luck.

I just added the Drag Star wheels in a 17” and 18” rear to my C6. I indicated to the tire shop the area where the the caliper is on the barrow of the wheel and the installer made sure the weights did not mount in that area. No rubbing but if they were mounted where the caliper is they would’ve definitely been ripped off.
