drag race launch options
Hello, I am new to the forum. I have a 2011 GS, I recently went to the 1/8 mile drag track. my car di 8.38 @ 88mph, with a 2.05 60ft. the specs I have looked up says my car (all stock) could do a 8.15 et @ 89mph, with a 1.90 60ft. my car did not spin the tires. I did rev it up on the convertor, was wandering if leaving from idle is better ? any advice would be great.
thanks
thanks

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your C6 GS!
You may want to post your question in either the C6 Tech/Performance section at https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...rformance-101/
or the drag racing section at https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/drag-racing-90/.
I would suggest offering more information for the members to provide better assistance such as where the track is (others may know the goods and bads of track performance where you were), tires/tire pressure when you ran your car, coupe or convertible, transmission (appears you have the auto but any change to the converter or the differential ratio), mods to the car, etc......and especially your experience drag racing. All this gives everyone a better starting place.
All in all, if this was your very first outing, and you made no changes to tires/tire pressure this might be an acceptable run which you can improve with experience.
Good luck with your future trips down the strip!

Before I did my converter, my car used to like leaving at about 1000-1100 RPM. As for your ET's they will vary based on the track, weather, and heat soak. Make sure you try to keep the engine cool, between runs too.
