Default Deja Vu, all over Again....

I went to the PBIR first points event of the season...we got there about 7:40AM and pitted or stuff...our first time shot was about 9:30AM...Red 69 was with me...he raced his 81 Malibu wagon...I went 6.57 @ 102mph with a .025 tree...I can live with that...the DA was +1300...my second time shot was also a dial for dollars...I put 6.58 on my board since I went 6.577 on my first run...I was trying for a dead zero pass...oops...I went 6.55...sigh...

The first round of elims is called and I line up with a Hemi Jeep Cherokee dialed 8.20...I put a 56 on mine and we both leave green...I catch him, whomp a bit and take him through FTW scrubbing 4 MPH....I missed the tree with a 47 but he was worse with a 66...

In the second round I catch a C5 vette dialed 6.65...a good friend is driving it and she can hurt ya...I leave 6.56 on mine since the previous 330' number said I was going dead on...she missed the tree completely and I had a very average .033...I scrubbed 8 MPH for the win...

They call us up for round three...I want to win this because this is the first time the track is offering round money beginning in round 3...I line up with a 2nd gen Camaro dialed 7.14...I leave 56 on mine once again since I would have gone that in round 2...he takes off and I follow chasing...I whomp real good at the stripe and lead him through for the win...I was .000 and two above...

Here comes round 4 but, alas!...no bye for me since we are now on the ladder and with 8 cars...rats!...I am paired with a real good malibu wagon ...they call it the wheelie wagon since it does big wheelies on every pass...he dials 6.32 to my 6.57...I am holding a couple maybe which I need with this guy...I launch and it is over in more ways than one...I am .001 red but sadly I spun and chunked out of the hole exactly like I did at Orlando in the final 3 weeks ago...WTF is going on?....that is where the deja vu came from...with a launch like that the best I can do is run 10 numbers high...no bueno for sure...

Anyway, I picked up a little round money but the car has me worried...other folks told me they had issues in the lane I was running as well... all I can do is try again next time...I may try racing in a top bulb event leaving off the bottom just for smiles on March 3rd in Orlando...we'll see...after that is March 23rd back in Palm Beach...my buddy and I are kicking the can around about doubling my car in the St. Paddy's day event in Virginia...it pays $5K, 10K, 5K...the problem is the weather...it has rained, sleeted, snowed and frozen at this event in the past...a12 hour tow one way for that?...hmmmm...

I love reading your track adventures. You’re a good writer. I have a question: when you say you scrubbed off 8 MPH at the line, how can you tell it was 8 and not more or less? I’m virtually always the slower car and being overtaken at the stripe so I’m going through with the gas pedal to the floor trying to stay ahead of the other guy. So I have no experience needing to scrub off speed which is why this might be a dumb question.

Not a dumb question at all and thanks, btw...my car is fairly consistent on the MPH it runs...right around 102 every pass...in cold weather it may increase to 103-4...on that pass I went through the traps at 94 mph...on this day I made 6 passes...my mph went from 101.87 to 102.24...my estimate of 8 mph is not exact but pretty close....good luck at the track and be safe out there...

Update....I have heard from others on facebook that they spun in the right lane as well...looks like it is not my car but the track...I did see some concrete peeping through on the starting line...also, when leaving off the button, I need to be very sure I am in the groove or funky stuff can happen...I am new to button racing and did not know to be that exact on the groove...oh well, I'll get the hang of this soon.....I hope....lol...

Looks like my car is launching straight and in the groove...must have been the track that got me...oh well...

You always have a ton of runs at races. Your really giving that Dana 44 a workout.

I look at ET rather than MPH when I scrub, I use the 1000' marker for 1/4 mile races and the 330' for 1/8 as a reference to calc what my ET was if I didn't scrub. .

I only race 1/8 mile so I use the 330' for dialing purposes as well...I only mention how much mph I scrub in my write up's as a reference point to how far ahead I was...no other purpose...I honestly could care less what mph I am trapping as long as my win light comes on....lol...
