The front belt you either drill a hole by a bar that attaches to the two front seet bolts and has a bolt in the center for the belt. Hardbar sells this.
I have a question on the anti-submarine belt. The NHRA rules state: "crotch strap to go through seat and anchor behind chest line, with OEM-type seat, crotch strap may route in front of seat." Are the front bolts far enough back or should it be mounted to the rear bolts? Do the IHRA and NHRA differ on this?
Looks AWESOME Jeff! Ours attached to a bar that bolted to the front of the seat rail/frame and works good, but your set-up looks more functional.
Yes I agree safety comes first but IHRA is 11.49 for a rollbar so is NHRA more safe or IHRA reckless?
I don't really like the letting slide by either.
PS, I don't feel more safe running 12.01 vs 11.99 with a bar.
My biggest complaints with NHRA (at least the Florida tracks....Orlando, Moroso, & Gainsville) is that although they are un-bending on minor rules that may have been inadverdantly over-looked....or the guy who ran quicker than ever before due to air conditions and is booted with no warning, but these same tracks run all the time with un-safe track conditions. Something I have NEVER seen Bradenton do. (they called last weekends regular program due to high wind & the high chance of rain.) Moroso will throw the average rear engine dragster right into the air at the 1000' mark in the right lane....they are well aware of this defect yet still run us and we see wrecks nearly every Div or Nat race there. Orlando kills...yes KILLS a driver or two every year due to the dangerous weeping of moisture out of the swamp it is built on at and after the finish line. Talk to any driver of a super fast door car or a dragster...we have to pull the chute EVERY run to not crash. And Gainsville? The top NHRA track in FL.....did not call the race last Sat till 6 had crashed & 1 was med-flighted out....the rest (including a close friend in a pro-stock truck ) destroyed there cars. Then when a large group approched officials to protest, did they shut it down. The minor rule infraction does not cost them $....but to cancel or post pone/extend a day a race does. And why is Moroso still allowed to be a NHRA track with such a horrible un-safe track ? (Yes it was recently repaved...and is as bad as ever. The berm built up by running road couse turn over the drag strip is part of the problem.) So I don't think it is either governing body that is more or less reckless...it just seems some tracks are run for the $ no matter if life/limb/property is lost, and others try to make a decent $ and still run the best they can with a safe, but not unreasonable enviroment. I urge any who know pro drivers to ask their opinion on the tracks I mentioned. Whew! Stay safe & alive!
Tracy, I agree totaly with your statements concerning the three NHRA tracks in our state. I also understand that metal barriers were banned by these organizations because of their propensity to exact extreme damage to car and driver.............what Florida track still uses these? Ours!
Mark, I have no issues with you or any other of the FCC racers! I HAVE issues with made up rules that serve only to indanger fellow racers! The IHRA & NHRA have established rules to keep our sport as safe as possable. We as drag racers should strive to follow these and stay safe in a not-always safe sport. In my 20+ yrs of drag racing, I have seen terrible accidents and many lived to race another day.........because the RULES were inforced!
Have you ever seen a C5 vert with the shiney side down? Not a pretty site!
Mark, my issues are not against you, their to protect you.
:)
I just hope that a 5-point restraint will hold me for my mods and if not, I'm done racing at the track for this season easily.
