Default First time at the strip......

Other than watching the 1/4 on TV, I've never even seen a legal race. Well, the 19th, on my Spring Break, I'm going to test and tune night at Moroso in West Palm to put down some times in my C3. I have a couple friends who are track savvy going with me, but I was hoping I might be able to get some tips from you guys.

I'm driving an 82' Stingray with a 383 c.i. 450 HP (or so) motor. I'm on street tires with a beefed up 4L60 tranny. Just put 3.55's in the rear end, and I'm having some problems hooking up (read....I can spin the tires forever).

I've checked Moroso's website and I know what to bring. Just thought you guys might have some practical advice on launching and things of that nature. :auto:

If you can't come up with some stickey tires before hand, pretend there is a cop in the next lane. Roll of the line avoiding spin and bring up the power as fast as traction will allow.

You may not put down any killer 60's but, you'll get practice on the tree and see about what the car will do.

Keep it safe and have fun!!!

Best of luck, let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll get stickeys eventually, but would rather get some practise in first. I know I'm addicted to racing, but just want to make sure I'm addicted to ME racing before I spend any money on slicks. I'll have to practise launches on Monday. Going to Sebring for the first time on Friday and Saturday.....so I guess my Spring Break is going ot be full of racing! :auto:
