Default Gen V heads on Dart or Merlin block

Will Gen V heads fit on a Dart or Merlin block? Im thinking of building a big, big block on a budget in the future.

I believe they will, but if you're going to spend all that money on a killer block, then you sure don't want to cheap out on the heads.

I would rather build a 496 based on a stock block with killer heads, than weak heads on a 540 or larger motor. Power is in the heads and a strangled big motor isn't much fun at all.

Its a stock bore street motor, Im after too much torque plus a bit extra. For a 496, I would need to buy a full balanced rotating assembly then ship my block 2000 miles south and back and find a trust worthy machinist. For a bit more I could by a complete machined 4.600x4.375 short block from USA.
Ive fitted port plates, screw in studs, polished chambers etc etc on my Gen V rec port heads. I can buy better heads later when funds allow.

That's true..you can always add them later. I would have thought you could find a local machinist. If not that makes a good shortblock a good deal.

Do some good port work on them and they will make that killler low end you want.

Tragically I cant even get a small block bored with torque plates in Darwin let alone a big block. Nearest capital city is 2000 miles!

I bought "The best of Hot Rod_HiPerf Chevy big block Cylinder Heads" but didnt find anything much on porting rec heads. Do you know of any sites or other books/papers you could recommend on working with rec port heads?

Thanks
