Q's about Conn. Rods,Performance reason/gains?
Im browsing through a catalog earlier and seen several applications for connecting rods for the small block chevy.
We have our famous 5.70 and the 6.00 and we have a 5.94 which is the most expensive one out of the three listed.
Is there a performance gain going from a 5.70 to a 5.94 instead of a 6.00 rod?
Why would they be priced alot higher?
Is it something like, the 5.94 rods will give you the effect of a 6.00 rod but act like a 5.70 when used in a 350 motor? What about the 400?I always thought increasing the rod length increased low speed torque, but dont know why they have a set of rods .06 shorter and priced alot higher.
Never understood the benefits and cost reasons.
You engine gurus wanna shed some light on this?
:)

these rods are from the 265 CI V-8 engine and the .060 short will need special pin location pistons to get the deck height correct. either buy the 5.7 or 6.0 rods so the correct pistons will be easy to get. :chevy

Thanks clem...just so anyone knows,Im not building a motor or anything, just wanted to know what that was all about. So now im guessing the reason its priced higher is because its not sold as often as the more popular 5.7 and 6.0?
Thanks again for the info.
