Default gold rocker arms?

I changed my oil today and took a closer look at the rocker arms in my BBC and saw that they said crane 13-1.70

are these good rocker arms? the engine was installed in 1989, so i don't know if these are modern or old rocker arms.

what RPM's are 1.7 roller rocker arms good for?

You appear to have a set of Crane Gold Race rocker arms. Click on the link and then on the catalog link. (It's in Adobe Acrobat format so you'll need Adobe Reader.) These are very good rocker arms initially designed for extreme performance in drag racing and were essentially the "gold" standard when they were introduced. The 1996 LT4 had a metric set of Crane gold race rockers when it left the factory.

As far as what rpm they're good for, that is more determined by your cam profile and it's matching valve spring pressures. The rocker arms won't be a limiting factor.

thanks! I've never seen these before, that's good to know, someone didn't skimp on the valve train when installing the cam!
