Decided to build LS2-based 427 - I have questions
Last year, my England Green - cammed engine destroyed two of its lifters, trashing the bottom end in the process. (My fault, I put over 70,000 miles on the car without replacing the valve springs.) I'm very interested in Texas Speed's Darton - sleeved LS2 block that displaces 427 ci. I've wanted a 427 corvette since I was about 14, and TS's short block is perfect - it even has identical bore and stroke to the original big blocks.
My question is, has anyone had any experience with re-sleeved blocks? This will be a daily driver for the next year or two, including a couple of trips to Texas Motorplex to get some numbers. It will be retired after that to become a full time hotrod. I want 427 ci mainly for my own mental enjoyment, I realize the performance over a 402 ci block is not perceptible by the butt-o-meter. If the stock block is considerably more reliable, I will stick with a stock-sleeved 402 ci LS2.
My second question is, should I upgrade any parts (rods, crank, wrist pins, main bolts) from the base short block? I don't plan on adding a supercharger, I'm targeting 550 rwhp, and do not plan to rev beyond 7000 rpm.
Third question: What is the compression limit (static and/or dynamic) for running 93 octane pump gas?

Nothing wrong wtih a sleeved block but it has to be done right
Compression depends on a few different things, overlap is one
I run a Gen 1 with 11.5:1 on Ca 91 (sometimes)but have to be conervative on timing and keep the motor running cool. Better to run compression if youre cammed up and add some Torco or ?? More efficient, snappier and helps the cam work how its supposed to.
with a big HR cam ck those springs every 15-20k
Big stroke use premium bottom end parts
