Default Don Vesco (land speed record holder) passes at 63

Passes: Don Vesco (land speed record holder)

Sadly, I read that Mr. Don Vesco passed on Monday December 16, 2002. Don Vesco drove to capture the current wheel-driven land speed record of more than 458 mph on the salt at Bonneville. Don raced both motorcycles and cars; since childhood I’d watched his records accumulate. Don lost his struggle with prostate cancer at age 63. My thoughts and prayers are with Don; his family, friends and associates. More details of his achievements found at links below. Funeral and memorial details can be found there also.

Really a nice guy and a very accomplished motor cycle road racer. I had the honor of racing against him nearly 20 years ago. I think his age of 63 is misquoted. Because he was pitted next to us and he had pure white hair then. I would have guessed him to be 50-60 at the time and I was impressed with him out there knee dragging and turning in very fast lap times on these older Yamaha formula bikes.
