would an 77 truck 427 be a good temp engine for my 69 while I search for the correct engine for my resoration this way I could at least drive it??
I fund one for $500 bones what do you think?

Personally, I don't think so. The "truck" engines, although 4-bolt blocks, have
.400" taller deck block which moves the heads up and out, requires spacers
for a car intake manifod to fit, requires a longer distributor housing, etc.
I'd pass and look for a 454 out of a car or light truck if you're looking for a temporary solution.
