So I want to get a high end polisher/buffer and decided on getting a RUPES but was stuck between two models. I was planning on doing a paint correction on one of my cars this weekend and needed to place the order today to get it by Saturday. Well I have been calling their support/sales support all day and all I get is voice mail, the operator said she has no idea what their schedule is and can’t help. So I missed my window to order for the weekend, frustrating because I wont’t have time again for a few more months…
Now I am questioning if I should go this route, I don’t want to shell out top dollar for a product that I can’t get help with.

Is this normal for RUPES or did I just get them on an off day?

Curiously, my neighborhood now has warnings on the drains on the street saying "ONLY WATER DOWN THE DRAIN", as they are storm drains, and our HOA put out an announcement that we should not be dumping any water that could contain harmful chemicals or debris that can affect wildlife. As an example, they mentioned car wash soap as a problematic substance (not to mention brake dust and other chemicals that could be washed down the drains). Since I really would prefer to keep washing my Corvette by hand and would rather not have to shell out the cash to a commerical car wash place every time I need to do a quick wash, I am curious what you guys are doing if you have a storm drain in your neighborhood to comply with these rules while still keeping the car clean. I have seen that water diversion strategies could work, but I don't have much yard to which to divert the water, and simply laying down towels doesn't seem reliable (or fun).

I am very careful when washing and drying my car.
I use a foam gun with quality ceramic soap.
Car is dried out of the sun with an air dryer.
The car was ceramic coated about 5 yrs ago and recently had the car professionally treated with a clay towel and paint sealer.
This morning I noticed what appeared to be water spots all over the finish.
I realize now I must be dealing with hard water at home.
What can I do to keep the spots from forming.
A buddy suggested an “iron remover” product.
Only thing is he thought it might affect the ceramic and paint sealer.
Would appreciate suggestions on what to use to keep the spots from forming.

After I drive, even just an hour, my pre-drive smooth to the touch paint has a gritty feeling.
Pollen, dirt in the air, exhaust particulates I assume, as the grit easily removes with water or a detail spray
and a gentle towel wipe.

My car is ceramic coated and then waxed with (because I like therapy) Meguires Ultimate Paste Wax (G210608C)
followed by Meguires Ultimate Quik Detailer (G201024).
[Clarity, Shine, Reflectivity - Hyper Sonic Gray w/ Carbon Flash Roof colors - is very good - better than Meguires M26 Yellow Wax].

I heard Meguires Hybrid Ceramic Detailer (G200526) over the top of the other products is recommended, adds slickness, and smooths the surface
of the wax, reducing the pollen et al sticking.

1) Does any co-member concur?
2) If Yes, (bought the ceramic, anyway, because it is therapy :) ), are using this technique AND are you satisfied the ceramic detailer is not reducing
the clarity and shine AND reducing the grit situation I described?

All comments are welcome :)

Quick question!

I have 2 sets of 1988 Z51/Salad Shooter wheels. I found tires for 1 set, I need to clean up a set of these wheels first.

Both sets of wheels have the common clearcoat failure, 1 set is better than the other. Going for driver quality here, so I'm going to tackle the best set 1st & then go for "real" refinishing on the bad set.

What do I use to clean these without killing off what's left of the clearcoat? I can polish the center caps, so those are a non issue. Not looking for perfect, just cleaner before I get tires mounted. I have some Purple Power Aluminum Brightener but I know thats pretty harsh? These wheels have very heavy brake dust on the inside, the outside isn't that horrible. It's a little too much to go after it with Dawn dish soap & a sponge, but I dont want to ruin what's left of the clear coat.

Do I just go nuts on the cleaning stuff, then do a quick shoot with clear coat before mounting the tires? Whats a good quick & easy clearcoat to try out?
