Chicagoland paint shop

Good evening, all.

I was wondering if anyone in the Chicagoland area has had any luck with a shop that was able to get the shade right on International Blue?

I know it's probably a long shot in finding someone in the area that has painted their car that color, with success but I would like to repaint my '68 back to its original color, but apparently that color is not the easiest to get right.

I appreciate the help!

Car show in Auburn IN today

Saturday Cars and coffee is always held at the Auburn, Cord, Duesenburg museum, a great place for it. Next door is a detail shop and home to the local exotic club.

Next to the free coffee and donuts the museum always parks some nice cars. Here is a boattailed speedster and a Duesenburg.

Two Auburns One original and unrestored showing the tests of time. Started right up and ran like a top. Whisper quiet

Next to those was this beautifully restored Hudson convertible.

Being a Ford guy for so long, this car literally stopped me in my tracks. Aside from being a 428, who can tell me what is special about this car? It appeared to be a real one.

Love the old air cooled Porsches, this one was nicely modified. Someone else please chime in and tell me what was done to this engine?

The only thing I picked out was the coils. Exact same coils used by GM on their passenger cars and more 20 years ago.

Absolute sucker for these early Firebirds. This Formula was a 4 speed.

This owner said it was one of ?31? original factory painted Deloreans

Sharkfest 2026, July 11, West Dundee, IL

Though primarily a celebration of the C3 "Shark" ALL Corvette years are welcome to take part. Come and enjoy our show along the Fox river featuring a DJ, 50/50 with fine pub food and drink available inside the VFW hall.

Third Gen Corvettes will be selected to win trophies from NCRS judges and the top three NON "Sharks" will receive awards selected by the show participants.

A YouTube video will be shot and newly designed event T-shirts will be available for purchase, there will also be vendors with products of interest to our community.

Corvette (only) show car entry fee is $20, this includes half price T-shirt coupon and a door prize ticket. Spectators are welcome to park in the lot across South First street free of charge.

Looking for a tire installer in the NW suburbs of Chicago besides Lee at Tire Service

I have a set of Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires in 255/35/20 and 285/30/20 for my Pontiac G8 with forged wheels that I need to install. I had Lee at Tire Service in Elk Grove try to install them and he ended up telling me he can not install them due to stiff sidewalls even though they are not run flats. Lee said that I need to go to an installer that has the tire machine with extra rollers to press the tire down onto the rims which he doesn't have. So I am looking for a tire installer that can do these WITHOUT messing up my wheels. I had Discount Tire mess up a set of wheels that I had prior to these so I will not go there again. Who does everyone use here for tire installs besides Lee that does a good job without damaging anything? If your shop can install the Corvette run flats then these Firestones should be no issue for them. Thanks for your suggestions!
