Default '02 Z28 4L60E Trans Mounts

Hi Guys,

I'm installing an LS1 and 4L60E into my '76 Vette. I want to try and use the stock rear mounts. I'm done with the crossmember mount and I think I have a pretty good idea of how the passenger side tail shaft mount works but I have no clue how the drivers side tail shaft mount was set up. I assume that these 2 tailshaft mounts are for torque load??? The mount in question splits and has a rubber insert. It looks like there was a metal bracket that fit thru the rubber but I'm not sure how it was set up. I hope the pic's help. Anybody out there have one like this?

its the torque arm mount, your rear end doesnt use a torque arm, the bracket on the other side is an exhaust hanger :P

So it sounds like I can pull these off? The exhaust hanger makes sence now but I'm not clear on the other one. Did it have a bar that ran to the rear end? Did it provide any anti-torque support to the transmission? If not, I'll delete them. That just made this a little easier! Thanks for the info....gp

its how the f-body setup keeps the rear axle facing where its supposed to be, ie the pinion angle.. then it has a track bar to keep it centered left-to-right
a less basic suspenion mod on an f-body after lowering and such ends up being an adjustable torque arm, that relocates off of the transmission in the first place, because it creates tremendous stress on the tailshaft anways, which noone wants

but yeah you can toss that pile of bracketry

Try this link:

And then check out the write ups under engine conversions. It might help.
