Motor Trend Names Camaro SS The Best Pony Car
In the latest issue of Motor Trend, the Camaro SS was pitted against the new Mustang and Challenger R/T. The Camaro came out on top, and is simply beastly.
In my own comparison, it's also noteworth that it is "tested" to be identical in 0-60 as the new 2010 Mustang GT500 (4.7sec vs. 4.7sec). 1/4mi was 13.0@111mph vs. 12.7@118mph ... Imagine if they had indeed made a Z/28
Braking was 105ft Camaro SS vs 109ft GT500.
We're talking about a $31,490 "as tested' Camaro SS vs. a $50,895 "as tested" GT500.

I skimmed that article yesterday too. It is interesting that their braking distances are shorter than most Vette tests have been. Can't help but wonder why or if it's really possible.

This is the battle of the V-6 cars. The Camaro is using the same motor as the CAD CTS. I don't see how it can be named car of the year as it just came out and there is no history. Maybe a Challenger is more like it.

I wouldn't read too much into a Motor Trend article as they generally give the nod to anything that is new. Ever notice that their M/T Car or Truck of the Year awards tend to go to whatever was released last.

Specially after M/T called GT-R the car of the year! (*)
(*) Motor Trend claims one of the criteria for picking the car of the year is weather it does or does not do what the Engineers designed it for. Well does GT-R do it? For how long?

I sat in one yesterday, it seemed a bit clunky and your field of vision was not very good. If remember the old Camaro smaller and lighter this seemed to heavy almost like a Chrysler 300.

I believe the 'Maro will have a very good following but the timing is pretty bad right now. The Hyundai is likely cheaper and will appeal to the ricer mod crowd. I really like the Camaro but I think GM will struggle with low sales.
