"With a production costs estimated at a staggering $50 million, however, GM can’t afford to breathe life back into the project and has confirmed that the Camaro Z28 will remain cancelled."

I must be missing something here. I see nothing regarding the use of the ZR1 engine in the 2011 Camaro (although that has been discussed since the beginning of the POSSIBLE intro of the Z 28).

That's what I've read too, and have seen nothing that suggests GM will be making the Z28 anytime soon.

They may very well be going to make a convertible camaro, but not a Z28. On a side note, the Z28 was never going to have the ZR1(LS9) motor is was going to have an LSA motor. The same one in the CTS-V.

No, that's the way it was with the 4th gen......but with the new Camaro, the Z28 is top dog again! Too many people complained about the SS being "above" the Z on the 4th gens....as the Z28 was always the top performer in all previous years.

I posted a thread on the VERT over in off topic, where CAMARO might belong since it's not a freakin VETTE,OVER a month ago.The latest is they are building the INDY 500 CAMARO,which I posted a thread on over there last week.Like some others,I see no mention of the ZR1 motor but what I do see is they're using bowling green for the top after getting the material from MEXICO!

the article says zilch about the ZR1 motor in the Z28 coupe or convertible....tops being ordered are for the convertible, not Z28 convertible....

After clicking a number of links on that page, I discovered this paragraph at the end of one of the articles......
"Unfortunately, although the Camaro convertible was saved from certain extinction, the super-performance 2010 Camaro Z28 was not. Shelved alongside the convertible, the complications with the Z28’s production schedule run much deeper than a simple supplier issue. Expected to receive a revised version of the Corvette ZR1’s supercharged V8, the Camaro Z28 has been heralded as critical to GM’s success in competing against the likes of the Shelby Mustang. With a production costs estimated at a staggering $50 million, however, GM can’t afford to breathe life back into the project and has confirmed that the Camaro Z28 will remain canceled"
Please read the last sentence of the paragraph (canceled) !!
