This my 78 which sports a numbers matching block that has been made into a 455 and uses (perf) Edelbrock aluminum heads. It has all kinds of other performance goodies, too much to list but made just over 580 hp 620 tq. on the dyno. The color is Mayan Red with white interior. I'm in the middle building a polished stainless 3" dual exhaust for it, as can be seen in the pictures. This car is a great addition to my corvette collection.

I am looking at them, really like this, my dads old car. Would be cool to see what happened to it.
Probably crushed. There are a lot of nice birds on here.

2nd generation Firebirds, Formulas an especially Trans am's truly represent an era gone by. In the mid to late 70's the Trans am with the right options was a much faster car than the Corvette, something that G.M will probably never allow again. From 77 to 79 I owned several with both the 403 Olds engine and the 400 Pontiac. Even though today the Pontiac engine Trans am brings a bit more than the Olds counter part, the Olds 403 was in reality a much better engine. It didn't suffer from spun bearings like the Pontiac 400 from accidentle over reving, and when you set the timing correctly, it actully out performed the 400. G.M purposely set the timing on the olds low and rated the power at an rpm that was not optimum for it. I remember being offered as a trade a 67 convertible 427 for my 79 and turning it down. Of course today that would be insane, but back then the handling and performance hands down belonged to the Trans am stock to stock. In late 78 me and the wife took a real Bandit criuse from Dallas to Miami in the 79 T/A, the CB radio came in real handy as did the truckers along the way. Made that trip in just 16 hours and stopped only for food, bathroom breaks and fuel.

God, I still love these cars, I got a 77 TA in 1979 when I was in high school and rebuilt it, it was a cool ride, my dad and my wife teamed up and sold it a few years back when I was in Iraq, that was an ugly few days around the old house.
Got a line on an 81 Z28 that is complete with factory t tops right now. Its sitting in the bushes covered up, if I can get the guy to sell.

My father had a '67 Camaro. Although it was only a 6 cyl. car, because he was a sales rep, it was his "rolling office", and MPGs were a concern. However it had a 3 speed stick on the floor (Chevy wouldn't put a 4 speed behind the 6), disc brakes, therefore rally wheels, and the HD Suspension. It was a good looking car, and I took my drivers test in it in the summer of '68.
In the fall of '76, I ordered a black, 400 powered, 4 speed equipped, T/A. I kept it for 24 years, finally selling it in '01, in order to purchase my C-5 Corvette. I really liked the T/A, but as many know, the rear quarters, especially the RH ones, were prone to rust-out, even if the car wasn't driven in winter, such as mine.
It just got to the point where the car needed more TLC than I was able to give it, and I sometimes wonder whatever happened to it....

This is my '70 Z28, it has a motor out of a '79 L82 Corvette and a nice 64cc aluminum heads and a high-rise Air-Gap intake, so it pretty much as powerful as the original LT1 engine that was in the car (and loooooooong gone).
