Two future vehicles? If true, does the mean the 4-door "SS" vehicle? I can't imagine what else in the lineup would take a LS7 well. I'd be very interested to se what a LS7 SS would look like. Perhaps something like the HSV W427 that they built in super limited numbers?

I didn't miss the point, I just disagree. The 5th gen is a fail IMO. LS7 is just polishing a turd.

The GT500 is faster so yes it rapes it. More Hp & faster. Not sure why you think the ZL1 is the better performer. It's not.

The ZL1 actually handles very nicely. It bested some impressive machinery (and more expensive) including the GT500 in the Car & Driver 2013 Lightning lap which is run at VIR. Here are the results. Each car is divided into segments based on price.

Dodge Charger Pursuit - 3.17.8
Chevy Caprice PPV - 3.23.0

-LL1
Hyundai Genesis 3.8 R - 3.13.9
Subaru BRZ - 3.18.6
Ford Focus St - 3.21.4
Fiat 500 Abarth - 3.27.3

-LL2
Chevy Camaro ZL1 - 2.57.5
Chevy Camaro SS 1LE - 3.01.5
BMW 335i sedan - 3.13.2

-LL3
Merc C63 BlackSeries - 2.58.0
Porsche 911 S - 2.58.9
Ford Shelby GT500 - 3.00.6

It came in 3rd behind the Ferrari 458 and the Lexus LFA. Not a bad showing. Three places ahead of the GT500. 3.1 seconds ahead of the GT500. Probably on the high side of 600 feet ahead of the GT500. The GT500 got its behind handed to it by the ZL1. I would say that qualifies as performing better.

Yeah, I totally get that you don't like the current Camaro, and that it so consumes you it makes your post worthless to reasonable discussion.

BTW, sales figures prove it a success. Remember the car's purpose: to find and please lots of buyers. Camaro is a win.

Because according to some independent tests it is. There's enough evidence to expose your characterization as mouth-foaming hyperbole.

They are both supercharged 6.2l Gen IV small blocks with a few different parts, and different place of assembly.

from what I have found looking at GM media online they even say both have the same compression ratio..
The only physical differences they list for the LS9 are.

Stainless Steel exhaust
Forged steel main bearing caps
forged titanium connecting rods
larger supercharger
integrated dual coolant to air inter-cooler
titanium inlet valves
forged pistons
and Hollow steel exhaust valves

An LS9 crate engine can be had for $21k, an LSA crate engine can be had for $12k. That is only $9k difference.

I think a 638hp CTS-V would have sold well with a base price of $73k.

The explanation is if they allowed any other GM vehicle to have the same HP without charging as much it would have detracted from, and exposed that they could have sold the ZR1 for less. And there is no way they could get over $100k for a CTS-V or Camaro ZL1.

That is a HUGE and important different parts list you wrote, but I digress.

The XLRV with 440hp sold for over $100k not that many moons ago. The zr1 is seriously expensive, but is also far more limited in that its base model(c6) doesn't sell in bulk(like the cts). It's buyers see that. I agree, a $75k ctsv with the ls9 would be a great buy. But it apparently wasn't made to compete with $75k cars. It competes, and beats, cars at the $65k price as well as many others. Also don't forget the smart companies design a car as a package. So 638hp would demand say, 15" brakes all around on the V, plus immensely stronger clutch, trans, axles, etc. 90hp is a big deal when it comes to durability. Now could an $85k well built ctsv sell? Logically yes. But I think more importantly, this was Cadillac's first serious fray into the performance luxury segment. That's hugely important to keep in mind, as just because you build it in the luxury segment, doesn't mean they'll come, all because of what stupid emblem is attached. The price and power were where they determined they need to be, to sell enough cars and still make a splash.

I believe they even have supercharger options at holden. I think it was for the ls2 though.
