Default New Z28's on the cheap

First post in this section of the forum. I have zero idea what the market is but I wanted to let you know the place where I got my Z06 this weekend has two Z28's that he's dying to get off his lot. He said he would let them go for way way under sticker and would entertain almost any offer.

There's a white and red one. They look incredible.

The place is Robert Chevrolet in Hicksville. Tell them Gene sent you...I'm friends with the sales manager and they guy who runs the show.

Best,
Gene

GM is offering 20% off sticker...I've heard of them going as cheap as $53K.

I paid 26k for my 1998 new. Now the new Z28 is 71k. The guys at GM are idiots, they live in a make believe world where money is no object for the working man. Why in hell would anyone spend more money on a Camaro than a Corvette. I could see a few people going this way but for the masses, yea these guys are idiots.

There is a WORLD of difference between the MASSIVE production of the Z/28s in 1998 and the latest Z/28s track ready take no prisoners approach to delivering a car for the week end warrior who wants to do road race courses..

Your trying to compare Apples to Oranges ..........your '98 shares only the name plate with the new car. Fact is there was no car in '98 that compares to the new Z/28......it's a car GM didn't build in '98. Probably the closest equivalent would be far further back. In 1969 when GM offered up it's drag race ready ZL1 cars with an all aluminum motor that carried an option price in excess of the car itself.

The effort in '98 was about delivering "bang for the buck" and lot's of compromises had to be made to achieve it.

The new Z/28 makes no such compromises.......the result is a very track ready and focused car with a price tag that suggests this is no effort to deliver "Ultimate Value".........but instead the ultimate road course ready pony car.

No way ......no how........can GM honestly ever expect to sell very many for street use.......but there are buyers out there who will be willing to write the check.

A better equivalent to your older z/28 is the new SS Camaro.......and GM is selling those in big numbers.

The new Z28 is an icon car, not really supposed to be realistic BUT......
Lets not mention the $2000 tires that only last a few thousand miles or the $4000 brake jobs.

Not really anything anyone can daily drive.

I wonder what the future collector value will be of the last Camaro offered with a factory 427 LS7?

I'm guessing all those who hate the price now, will really hate the values they will command later on in the collector market.
