'67 Camaro Wheel tire combo ??????
Let's beat this dead horse one more time... PLEASE
I went through the '67 only wheel tire combo thread and see more than a few running 17x9.5 5.5bs .. What's it take to run 18x10 ? or can you without mini tubs and offset shackles? What about 17x10? Not looking to jack the car up, looking to do a 2" drop at some point but would like to put rims & tires on it now and will also work with the suspension kit when I do it. Going for the pro tour look
fronts I see are typically 17x8 4.5bs. Is that the biggest you can go without rubbing?
I'm probably going with Centerline Lazers, any comments on them?
I'm looking to put the biggest meat I can under there

A long time friend of mine, was one of the original 1967 Z/28 private campaigners, on the SCCA sedan and Trans Am circuit, back when those were new cars. The cars had to run wheels that were "approved" by Chevrolet, and carried GM part numbers. Given the competitiveness of that series, back then, I'm sure that Chevrolet would have obtained and "part numbered" the widest wheels that they could have stuffed in the Camaro's wheel wells. (I'm sure that Ford would have, too, for the Mustangs).
Having said that, my friend was running American Racing, 15x8", Torque Thrust rims. I believe the backspace was 4". The real difference with the "GM part numbered" wheels, was that they weren't aluminum, they were actually magnesium. My friend ran his Camaro for 3 seasons, '67-'69, and that's what he told me he used for wheels.

I was just trying to give you an idea about how SMALL the Camaro's wheel wells are, especially since you said you were considering lowering the car in the future....

With out modifying the wheel openings. I think a 255 is the widest tire the will fit the stock wheel wells. If you tweak and flare opening a 275 in the rear.
