...doesn't bother me in the slightest-when he starts getting recalls, service issues, problems as the car ages and gets mileage on it, his tune will change just like everyone else's.

...with his last name, I surprised he even bought a Corvette-German cars must not be the best anymore.

It'll be interesting to read the responses to this letter in the next issue or two of CORVETTE FEVER. Sometimes magazines will publish inflammatory letters like that just to get a rise out of their readership.

So he thinks those of us with older cars that don't like the C6's looks are that way because we "can't afford" a C6?? Hee, hee.

His car has ALREADY depreciated to less than the value of most of our C1 & 2's!!!!

Stanley K. Marblehead should have learned how to hedge against depreciation losses on his C6 by driving an appreciating C2 and having some real fun.

This guy must have taken the bus or Taxi's up until now. Before the C-5 there were a lot of sports cars from europe. It was easy to tell , if it was english it leaks globs of oil and if it was italian and bought new it rusted out before the first of the year and if it was german it had all sorts of technical problems including rusting out and the dealership simply ignored you when you came in. The corvette had it's share of teething pains, but you got a lot of bang for your buck with a corvette.

Default "Corvettes [were crap] before the C5?!?!?

So this was my dad's letter to Corvette Fever and I can see it obviously offended many. I don't think it was his intent and believe his comment was referring to a point when Chevrolet suffered quality issues across many lines. But granted not PC. I know my brother's 63 split window has always been much admired and appreciated by my dad. That said dad is now 87 and has had this car modified by Reese Callaway and it is his pride and joy. http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...g/DSC_0007.jpg

"gvons", despite all the negative feedback that your dad's letter generated, I have to agree with the both of you. I met my wife in the spring of 1978, and at the time she had a '76 Corvette.

I had the opportunity to drive that car a couple of times before she traded it in on a '79 Corvette. Yes, it was a nice car, but I'm 6'2" tall, which isn''t all that tall these days, and I was very uncomfortable in the car. The '79, when she took delivery of it, had all sorts of paint defects, and we sent it back to the dealer for about 20% of the car to be repainted.

Shortly after she got the '79, we broke up, and didn't see each other for a number of years. We got back together because she couldn't find anyone trustworthy to fix the issues the car had developed over time. I fixed it up, and wound up doing a lot more work on it, as we wound up getting married about a year later. The one really troublesome area of her '79 was the A/C. She spent a TON of money on it, trying to getthe A/C to work properly.

I have an '01 C-5, which I bought brand new back in the summer of '01. Totally different animal. I fit very comfortably, it rides better, it's much quicker, and the A/C works well.

I agree. I would like to own one of each too. But I really wouldn't own a C6, just because I wouldn't want to be in the same class as him. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but doesn't mean it is right.

So you would deprive yourself of the pleasure of driving a C6 just because of one person's opinion?

Didn't quite say that. I have driven a C6, and just don't want one. I have owned and driven a C5 too, and I did like it. Wished I wouldn't have sold it.

But just because I don't want a C6 doesn't mean ****, as just like he doesn't want anything other than a C6, doesn't mean **** either.
The point I was making is, as I said, .... Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but doesn't mean it is right.
