I have an early 69, first week of Oct 68 build date, is it possible the horn relay is left over from 68? I removed it and it is the 68 version, not a 69. My car also had some other 68 inspired things on it that I found leading me to believe they used left over 68 stuff on early 69's. Anybody have any knowledge or the same items on their 69? Thanks......................Bruce
Thanks for the reply Mike. One thing I found on my BB with air was the 68 bracket/clip that bolts to the back of the a/c comp. to retain the heater hoses, all books show a metal clamp to hold them together and they just drape across the top of the compressor. This also leads me to believe my a/c system used the screw clamps and not the crimped type hoses, had read somewhere where early 69's were observed this way. So my search for a mint horn relay can end, will use my exceptional example I removed. Later...............................Bruc e
I also have an early 69 with a build date of Oct 03 1968. Lots of 68 stuff on mine. Silver painted grills, weatherstripping, interior ***** and misaligned trim all part of the early 69 models. Revision dates in the assembly manual will help you to determine when some parts were changed. I'd be interested in compairing notes with you on several items.
The difference between 68-69 other than the 3 digit number on the bracket (part number- last 3 digits) was 69's 890 had a black plastic plug receptacle and 68's 862 had a white one. As for reading the assembly manual for usage, that page, among others, is so obliterated by poor copying and printing nothing can be read!!! I have an 862 on mine, white plastic............................B
Without verifying the number stamped on the bracket, I would say that is a 68 version relay. If number on bracket is not 862, then it is a service replacement, Later.................B
