Default '68 427 fan clutch

I'm in search of a fan clutch for my '68 427/400hp. I was told that the clutch I'm looking for is unique to '68/'69 tripowers and the '70 LT1. Would anyone be able to verify (or dispute) what I was told?

I have a correct dated one for 68-early 69, let me find it and get the # off it.

My Corvette parts catalogue lists only one clutch: #3916141.

That's the only one that's still serviced - it was originally the BB clutch (short shaft), but services both SB and BB applications just fine. That's the one the vendors sell - GM list is around $180, GMPartsDirect.com has it for around $130.

I can't see any reason that the tripower cars would call for a special clutch. The NCRS judging guide doesn't make any distinction in this regard. The clutches for '68-'70 use a smaller bolt circle diameter to mount the fan than '71 and later. THAT, I know for sure.

While I have never seen a new, last 10 years of so NCRS judging guide, it was my understanding that much of the 68 information was very general in knowledge. Not that I am considering getting my car done that way, but how accurate is the guide?

The '68-'69 guide isn't very specific on a number of things (fan clutches included).
