Default '69 seats question

I am replacing my 'incorrect' seats (from a '70-72 I believe) with a used set from a '69 that I recently purchased.

What I am wondering is which side on the drivers seat is the release **** on?

I have two seats from a '69 that have the release **** on the left side (if looking from the rear of the car)> In pictures I've seen of '69's it appears the passenger side seat would have it's **** on the left side (inboard) but I cannot find a picture of the drivers side seat that shows where it is located.

If the drivers side release **** is supposed to also be located 'inboard' then it should be on the right of the seat (console side) correct?

If so, I guess I bought two passenger seats!

If anyone knows which side the drivers release **** is on I would appreciate an answer on this as I have just taken the seats in for upholstery work.

Sorry I don't have any pix to post here.

Thanks, Mark

On my 71 both adjusters are outboard (right front side of both seats). I'm thinking it's that way since most people are right handed and it would be an easier reach....The AIM for 71 shows them to be on the right side......don't know if it's the same on a 69 but I would think so....if you have the AIM for your year it should answer your question.

Good luck.

BTW, you might get a quicker response if you asked on the NCRS site

Mark. Both seats are identical and interchange. You didn't buy 2 passenger seats.

The seat back release *****/levers are outboard on the drivers side and inboard on the passengers side. Chuck

Oh, seat back release...I thought you were talking about fore/aft seat adjustment.

Yes. Early 68's have a different seat back release position, different upholstery, no headrests, etc. but the seats are the same and interchange. Chuck

Hi

Do you say that early 68 seats could not have the headrest option at all ?
I thought, the option was available overall 68 range.

Should have said that headrests were optional in 68, and became "standard" or a "mandatory option" in 69. Chuck
