Default Build Sheet for a 1969 BB

I have recently bought a 1969 BB and believe it to be a matching numbers car. All number check out. When I bought the car the tank had been taken out. Car has sit since 1985. Is there any way to get an orginial build sheet on the car if it's not on the car?

Unfortunately there is. There are unscrupulous vendors out there now offering faked build sheets that have been artificially aged. If you want to get a look at the quality check out a few 435 horse cars on the world's largest Internet auction site and you are liable to run across a picture of one.

Usually not, unless previous owners can provide it. Copies of build sheets have been found tucked in the wiring behind the speedo/tach, in the wiring behind the stereo/center cluster, behind either kick panel, tucked in the springs beneath a seat, behind a seat back, behind a door panel, and under the carpet in the rear storage area. This is not to say a copy might be in any of these locations on your car, especially if Bubba has been there before you.

Can previous owner's provide any additional documentation?

I have been looking in all of those locations but have had no luck so far. Previous owner was in the same boat I am in. He just never did anything to it. And he has had the car since 1999. So of course does not know how to get ahold of owners before that.

Was the car represented as having the tank sticker when you purchased it?
You can obtain a duplicate, as was indicated, but they are not real.
The best bet is to back to previous owners again and ask lots of questions.

Exactly; if you didn't get the tank sticker how do you know it is authentic? There are a lot of "built" cars out there and if you are not an expert it is easy to get fooled. In my opinion there is only one reason to purchase a duplicate tank sticker. If the original is gone it is gone. A car is only original once.
