Default Correct Finish on Vac Advance Diaphragm?

Putting the finishing touches on a 1964 with 365hp and question now is what was the original finish on the distributor vacuum advance diaphragm? Was it painted or should it be plated?

Thanks, Greg

Thanks for the reply Ken. Should the plate be cadmium?

Silver zinc is fine - almost nobody cad plates any more (except aircraft propellers) since it was identified as a carcinogen.
