58 door post question?????
I just got replacement "front window channel" and it looks like my door post is supposed to be tapped for screws. I figure my door posts have been re-chromed over the broken off screws??? Mine has imperfections that line up with the holes in this window channel. If screws are supposed to be there I guess i could set it up in a mill and drill and tap the holes? The window channel that was in there was just glued in with black weather strip adhesive. What to do? Thanks.
The front window channel was originally attached to the post with a combination of screws in some holes and rivets in others, and the top-to-bottom sequence of screws-vs.-rivets changed over the years. If appearance for judging isn't a concern, you could drill and tap holes for small flat-head screws at each location.

Re: 58 door post question????? (JohnZ)
Thank you once agian John your knowlege is very much appreciated. When you say rivets. Do you mean "pop" or regular cold "rivets"? It really is not a huge consern to me but since I am now focusing on taking care of some of the missing or older parts. I want to take the time to do it right. I have been really inspired since joining the "forum" and think no make that know this will be the best my car has ever looked summer!
****EDIT*********
P.S. How do I make the new window seals stay on the revel and garnish mouldings?????????????
The front window run rivets are tubular stainless that "bulge" when you drive them into the holes in the door post - Corvette Central sells a "mount kit" for the run channel for about five bucks that has both the screws and the rivets.
The inner and outer window seals are stapled to the reveal and garnish moldings; small pop-rivets will work too, but they'll get a deduction.
