Default Offensive language (*UPDATE*)

Historically, the Forum’s software has been set to block certain words and terms we considered to be inappropriate for use on the site. Typically, the words and terms included were those that are crude, vulgar, and/or involved racial epithets.

The filtered list was not comprehensive and moderators tried to show some tolerance if the word/term was altered enough so as not to be blatant.

It has turned out to be an exercise in futility and a time-consuming endeavor the moderators have not been able to keep up with.

Going forward, moderators will review reports of offensive language, direct or implied, where it is used to convey hostility or threats toward other Forum members, public officials, and any others. They also will monitor for the excessive posting of offensive language by individuals. They will not permit expletives in thread titles, user IDs or profiles nor will racial epithets or hate speech be allowed in any context. Moderators will err on the side of caution in determining whether to delete and sanction offensive content.

Exercise caution in addressing topics that pertain to race, color, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, familial status, and disabilities so as to avoid belittling or denigrating others.

Racist comments (obvious, implied, or otherwise), whether directed at a member or not, are prohibited.

Misogynistic or misandristic comments (obvious, implied, or otherwise), whether directed at a member or not, are prohibited.

The judgment of moderators will be final in such issues.

As a courtesy to other site users who access Corvetteforum at work, please add the designation NSFW to the title of any thread that may contain offensive content or links to videos with potentially shocking or offensive content.
