ZR1 at Bloomington Gold
The lady sitting in the car was revving it up so we could hear the pipes. Incredible!

The car definately has a nice bark to it! Too bad I can't hit the savings account or retirement account that hard!! I confess that I have another Vette on my wanted list! I checked the seat and my butt definately fits it but couldn't wrangle a test drive.

Tom Hill (Corvette Plant Engineer) said that they were going to be taking the ZR1's to Funfest in Effingham, IL this September and will be giving rides there.

The way some people were revving those cars this weekend I wouldn't want to buy one of them. The one guy was hitting the rev limiter with it. They are sharp cars, but I would stick with the Z before blowing that 100+ grand on one.

According to GM those are pre-production test vehicles ....
I told them I did not like the tone of the exhaust.
The Z sounds more like the 427 rumble one expects.

When they revved it up on the L88 run, they hit the rev limiter
which was not very smart on an unloaded brand new motor.
It hurt it for sure because it backfired slightly. I would hate
to own that one now. I was not very impressed with the Zr1
compared to the Z06 for the money. And they dont look
much different in person.

That was Tom Hill driving, it was his personal ZR1 for the weekend, and from what they said the 2 cars there were going to be destroyed since they were pre-production. So I guess they really didn't care about breaking the motor in.

These motors are broken in before they leave Wixom for Bowling Green. I wouldn't worry about a little bump on the rev limiter. Besides, it's a test vehicle. If some customer is going to do it, you better test for it before ok-ing the vehicle for sale.
There was a red one at my local cruise night yesterday as well. I followed the guy around the parking lot for 5 minutes until he found a spot. Within 30 seconds, there was a big crowd around it.

equipment. Its just not the example I would set. It accomplished
nothing and did not favor well to those that have respect of
what he had. Just my opinion

I asked Tom Hill what they were going to do with the cars and he said that they cannot sell the gray car so it will end up in a the museum, BUT the red one (after testing is done) will end up at a dealership. I dont know how they could do that, but that is what he told me on Friday.
I love what they did with the car too bad I didnt win the lottery yet.

When it rained on Saturday I left and headed across the street to Walmart. When I came out of the store the red ZR1 was parked in the fire lane in front. If it was dry out, I would say let's race. Going east on North Ave. by Carol Stream, I saw a police officer sitting in the middle grass area in a lawn chair clocking people with his radar. Never saw that before.

I saw a few people hitting the rev limiter on that red ZR1 and although it may or may not be good for the car it did show some lack of respect for sure.

Revving the crap out of any car up to its redline when the car is in park and has no load on it is TERRIBLE for any car, nevertheless a brand new 625 HP corvette! I would not want to be the guy who ends up with that one although in the grand scheme of life it probably won't make any difference at all (but its just the principle of the matter)!
