Default Where to buy race fuel in Chicagoland area

As the title states just wondering if anyone in the Chicago area knows where to get 100 or 100+ octane race fuel locally preferrably in the southwest burbs? I am trying to diagnose a slight surging issue. I live in Plainfield and just remembered that Chicagoland speedway isnt very far and if I remember correctly they might have a few pumps there. I wonder if I can get in there just to fill up with some gas without actually paying to race my car. Anyone else do this? or know of any normal gas stations that have it in this area?

Thanks,
James

The gas city on Laraway Rd. has it. Most Gas City's do actually. You'll pay almost $7.00 a gallon for it though. Why are you using it? Is your car stock, or modified?

Oh sweet thanks a lot guys thats super close.

Robls6,
Actually the issue isnt even with the vette at all. Its my daily driver 2008 Acura TL-S 6spd manual. For some reason during normal acceleration mainlmy felt in 2nd and 3rd gear the car surges. Best way to describe it is as if the car is pulling timing out then re-applying it. This is all while completely off the clutch during normal acceleration you can feel the car kind of lurch sometimes or surge. Its not horrible but something I notice and I cant get the dealer to help me out much with this one. Other than that the car drives 100% perfectly. Perfect idle, very good fuel economy, no check engine light etc etc. I have done some things myself to eliminate possibilities with no luck. For sure not plugs, not coils, not accelerator pedal position sensor (common issue on the 3rd gen TL drive by wire system). Now guys on the acura forum want me to try and run some race gas to see if it still does it then. Maybe the car is actually getting knock and I guess this is a good way to find that out. I know its not a vette but I know you all are so helpful so I figured I would ask here. And sure enough I got my answer within 20 minutes!!

Thanks,
james

Gas city in Oswego has 100, I run my bike on it when it's cold so I don't have to futz with Ethanol and the lil carb with cold starts.

Thanks Brian and that Oswego station has it recently as far as you know? I called a few local gas city stations and they recently changed over to other gas stations and no longer carry race fuel. The rt59 and 95th station in naperville is no longer a gas city and they dont have race fuel and same story for the ex-gas city in shorewood on rt 59.

I will try calling the Oswego station since thats near my work.

Thanks a lot guys.

been three months since I filled up, but I do know it's still a gas city as I was there the other night buying a soda . . . and I'm pretty sure I watched someone shoot up heroin in the parking lot, always a plus.

I used to get race fuel from the gas city which is literally 1 mile from my house (Schaumburg area). Just last week I noticed it's not a Gas City anymore, WTF? I'm guessing they won't be selling race fuel there anymore either. Luckily I've got a Citgo thats about 4 miles away that sells race fuel, and it's around $6 or so I believe.

From what I heard, all Gas City's are a thing of the past. Most of them have been taken over by Speedway.

Yeah sounds like thats the case the few I called have changed over. I did call the one in Oswego which happens to be right on my way to work they are still Gas City and have 100 octane race fuel in stock. So its for sure avaiolable in Oswego. Im probably gonna go there in a couple days and put in a few gallons to see if I can get my car to stop surging to help me isolate an issue.

Thanks,
James

Air filter is brand new however the cats arent something I haven looked into. Is there a way to tell without removing the entire exhaust system? The car has been to the dealership 3 times so far with no luck of figuring it out.

The Meijer on RT.59 by the Fox Valley mall has it. At least they did previously. I don't know if they have it in the tank now.

Called them and they said they haven't carried it for a couple years now.

The Citgo on Ogden in Naperville has it.

I've been trying to find places that carry it and it's becoming less and less available. The Gas City stations use to carry it, but with all of them closing and turning into Speedways, they don't have it anymore.

Nope. They no longer have it since changing from Gas City to Speedway.

Citgo on 515 E Ogden in Naperville has it, and Delta Sonic on 1415 Ogden in Downers Grove also has it. The Citgo carries 100 octane Rocket brand. Not sure what brand or octane the Delta Sonic carries.
