Gasoline Problem- Who Besides BP?
BP released a bad batch of regular and mid grade unleaded, mostly around Chicago, starting last week.
Their website is full of blather about how they are working to help everyone, but they still haven't posted some important information: what brands besides BP might be effected? They simply say "other retail outlets".
We know that many companies buy and use gas from each other, the difference is that they each add their own individual additives when the truck is filled at the depot.
Gas at Costco or Sams Club or "Joe's Live Bait, Body Piercing, and Cheap Gas" may or may not be from BP. But it's also possible that your local Shell or Mobil or Phillips station got a load from BP. Sure, it will have (for example) the special Shell additives, but since the basic gas from BP is contaminated, the additives don't make much difference this week.
If anyone has info about who those "other retail outlets" are, please post. Thanks!

According to this morning's Chicago Tribune, a BP spokesman has said "Stations receiving the contaminated fuel include BP, Speedway, Thorntons, and a number of big-box stores..."
Apparently, that information is not important enough to be included in the BP website "handling" the problem.

The oil company says customers whose vehicles have experienced such problems caused by the fuel should send it an email at bpconsum@bp.com or call 1-800-333-3991.
Customers should provide receipts for the repairs and fuel purchase, if available, or credit card bills showing the fuel purchase at affected retailers.
