Place to sell stock exhaust (scrap) in Chicagoland?
I'm getting ready to swap out my base C5 units for some GHL Bullets. I was wondering if anyone has ever used any scrap yards in the western suburbs to sell your stock unit, or if you just trashed it. If I could get some money for it, then why not right? Not likely to get it out in one piece as I don't have access to a lift, so I won't be able to resell it to another Corvette owner. Are the tips worth keeping for anything?

Yep, just got a quote back from a scrap yard in Alsip. Steel is $215.00 for the ton (215/2000 = .1075/lb). I'll just give it to the junk guy who drives around my town on garbage day next week.

A friend of mine was just asking me for a stock set un-cut, he said he would have gave you some cash for them, as he's selling his car and wanted to go back to stock.... It sounds like it's too late though?

I did get a PM from a forum member willing to pay me for them uncut, and try as a might they just wouldn't go. Without a lift, I was uncomfortable with going the necessary height on jack stands to get them out whole. I tried, but I really needed wheel chocks to keep the car from rolling back off my ramps. For a quick trip to Autozone, it was worth it to rent the "free" tail pipe cutter and be done with it. They cut pretty clean, so I suppose someone could re-weld them? My junker gets them on Wednesday.
