Larry Courtney, Michigan captain for the 2014 National Corvette Caravan, has assumed leadership duties for Indiana and Western Kentucky caravans.

“It’s another big territory to handle and I took on the role since there was no one else available to coordinate activities from those regions,” reports Larry. “Our hotel rooms in Indianapolis and Bowling Green are now at a premium so if you are still thinking about joining us for this once-every-five-year big event, contact me ASAP.”

He has been busy lining up driving routes, hotel accommodations, meals and special activities from the trip to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky., home of the Corvette Assembly Plant. Thousands of Corvette lovers are expected to pack the museum grounds the week before Labor Day for a host of special events, car displays, Corvette presentations and plant tours.

George Matick Chevrolet, sponsor of Larry Courtney’s flag-wrapped C5 Corvette, is the primary Michigan Caravan host dealer. Participants from metro Detroit will gather at Matick Chevy for a kick-off program at 8 a.m. on Aug. 26.

Northern Michigan participants will gather at Hank Graff Chevrolet in Davison.

Matick and Graff Corvette Caravan participants will then travel to Caron Chevrolet in Marshall, where they will meet up with other caravan members from West Michigan.

Together, these Corvette enthusiasts will parade to Indianapolis, where they will join the Indiana and Western Kentucky caravans, and spend the night at the Wyndham Hotel before heading to the museum the next day.

Larry is coordinating caravan activities at the Indianapolis Speedway and in Bowling Green.

A post script. I am working on getting a Chevrolet dealer in the Indianapolis area to be involved with the caravan. Hopefully I will have the updates soon.

No offense but why would I want to "ride" around the track in MY corvette while someone else drives it?

I just called the NCM on this and you are right. It's a corvette racing driver at the wheel of your car with you as a passenger. Bummer.
