SIGN UP for The BASH!!
The BASH IS THIS WEEK!!!
LAST CHANCE to think about going to The BASH! Do you need a break? Do you love Corvettes? Get away and have some fun!!
COME ON DOWN!!
2017 looks to be an interesting year for Corvette, with the pending announcement of a 2018 ZR1, potential announcements on a 2018 mid-engine Vette, etc. And there is NO better place to get all the latest info on Corvette than at The BASH, where all the Corvette big names in Marketing and Engineering come down to Bowling Green, KY to share with us the latest and greatest relative to Corvette. THIS is the event where new things are discussed. And if you've never been to it, it really is one of the best events of the year - any year!
And Corvette Racing will be Back!! 2016 was an amazing year for Corvette Racing - winning the Overall Championship in GTLM, along with the Manufacturers Championship and the Drivers Championship - the trifecta! Doug Fehan - the Program Director, will be there with others, usually at least one Driver (Tommy Milner has been a regular). There will not only be a seminar to hear all about it, but there will also be a dinner one of the nights to celebrate Corvette Racing.
If you've never been, you REALLY need to consider it. For the last several years the only Chicago contingency has been me, JZubik and 100Cent. Guys and gals, this is a great event! Here's a link to the information and agenda and registration. Take a few vacation days and join in on the fun!
Oh, and did I mention that you can spend a whole day on Wednesday before the event starts to run on the NCM Motorsports Race Track? Of course they will only allow Touring Laps (highway speeds), but it is a blast. It might be first come first serve so make your mind up soon!

FYI -
Right now the plan is that Jim, Joe and I are going down early Tuesday so that we can be there bright and early on Wednesday for a Corvette plant tour, then head directly to the NCM Motorsports Park to spend the rest of the day on the track. Then the official BASH opens on Thursday. I'm going to be heading home Saturday morning and Jim and Joe may be staying until Sunday.
Join in on the fun!

Brad,
I might book a room, going down Wed. morning and meet you guys at the track. Do I have to pre-register to do the touring? How much time on the track did you have last year? Not sure yet if I can pull this off work wise, only thing holding me back. Our club always has a group that goes down, they leave Thur. morning. What hotel are you guys staying at? I think our group stays at the Hampton Inn.

Sorry Frank, just saw this post.
We usually stay at either the Marriott Courtyard or the Holiday Inn on Wilkinson Trace street next to the convention center where they typically hold the Saturday night dinner. This year I think I'm staying at the Courtyard (using points) and Jim and Joe are staying at the Holiday Inn. They like a girl at the Holiday Inn bar. It's a popular hang out for the Corvette crowd.
As far as track time, yes, you do need to register for it. it's been different for the past few years. The first year it was available we got on the track about 5-6 times for about 3-4 laps each time. Then last year it was literally once or twice. This year they're opening it in the morning, and as long as your registered, you can go on as often as you want, given the fact that you have to get back in line and wait your turn again, so it's entirely dependent on how many people sign up for it. I think we're going to do the Plant tour first thing Wednesday morning, then head to the track.

I am planning to head down Wednesday with my kiddo once I dig my 98 out of storage (been in for about 1.5 years). Planning to leave Saturday sometime likely assuming we find enough to stay occupied. Normal speeds around a track do not amuse me much so hopefully they have something else going on. Best of my knowledge my son can not do the factory tour yet which is disappointing. I booked a room at the Country Inn and Suites.
Does anyone by chance know about the aquarium or science museum nearby?

Wife and I are going to head down this year while we still can (i.e before kids). Last time I was there was with my dad in 1999 for the 5th anniversary. Really solidified my love for Corvettes and now looking forward to sharing the experience with my wife.

Can't pick a better event to get her "into" the hobby. Lots of things to do, and they even have a separate lounge and activities for the wives if they get bored with what we want to do! Something to do with wine and painting!

We're going to hit the bourbon trail while we are there so she's pretty excited for that. She likes bourbon and corvettes, think I'm set!

Most hotels where people stay are on or off of Scottsville Rd.about 5-6 miles south of the NCM. Lots of restaurants and things to do in that area. So if the Comfort Suites works, grab it. Some of us are either at the Holiday Inn next to the convention center, the Marriott Courtyard, or the Hilton Garden Inn (all 3 close together).
Hope that helps!

UPDATE -
It looks like the #4 car C7-R - which won a very exciting race at Long Beach yesterday, will be on display at the BASH. Corvette Racing will be a highlight at this years Bash.

If it's the Country Hearth (I think that's what they used to call it) - the one that is literally on the property of the NCM (right across the street and), the only thing really going for it is its proximity to the NCM - not much else to do around there and once the NCM closes down that area is pretty much a ghost town.
