Default Byron Drag Racing - July 9th

As title states the North Shore Corvette Club will be up at Byron on Sunday and we are always welcoming others to join in. We usually get our own staging lane, helps speed things along. So come on out and have some fun. We are usually there from opening till about 3 or 4.

Byron went very well, my best 12.76. Had 8 cars for bracket elimination and Glenn with his 62, that he's owned for 44 years. It's his race car from back in the day, born again a few weeks ago, doing all the work himself.
We're going back in Aug., would like to see some form members there. We had two staging lanes and the place was not at all crowded.

Pared up for elimination

Frank, Are you on a good tire, or your every day tire? My Mallett car was running consistent 11.20's. I did have a nice converter and a good tire. What did the 62 run? I saw that car @ the Libertyville show.

Yes Tom, he was at the car show, had no exhaust at the time of the show and finished it a few days ago. He was in the low to mid 12's, taking it easy on it's maiden voyage in a long time. People were freaking out that he only had a lap belt. For tires I'm on 6 yr old PS2's. I have a manual trans, wasn't launching hard, street launch, and was working on consistency for the bracket racing. I was doing good with runs of 13.218, 14.943(clutch stuck), 12.882, 13.044, 13.043, 13.043 in test/tune. I indexed, 12.9 and ran 12.761 and broke out, best run of day, lol. Adrenaline took over. Track was prepped well, better than Great Lakes a month ago in my opinion and not to crowded. We are going to be back up at Byron on Aug 13. Glenn has the original hood for the car at home, he bought this hood for $50 because it had a hole in it, so he covered the hole with the cowl.

WOW Tommy, that is hauling the mail, I didn't realize that your old Mallet car was running 11.2s back in the day very impressive (no wonder you loved it so much)!

What was your average trap speeds and 60 foot times on those 11.2 runs if you recall out of curiosity?

Jimmy, Yes that was a great car. I did think about keeping the drive train but was just done with it after the wreck. I know you have been there with some of your cars.
The car dyno'ed @ 420 rear wheel on a hot summer day. With the RPM trans and a good converter (3200) if I remember correct, your old drag package @ 13PSI the car ran 11.20-11.25 consistently on 70 deg days. The 60ft was 1.58-1.6 / 118-120MPH

Outstanding Tommy, wow, that Mallet car was dam quick and fast and hooked great! Man how the years fly my friend, you refreshed my memory how I sold you my old CCW drag pack that obviously served your Mallet C5 well my friend! I really miss those days of flogging our old C5s down the 1/4 mile, that chit was A LOT of fun! Seems like just 5 years ago but it was 16 years ago when I was running my stock bottom end n/a 98 pewter C5 Roadster running mid 11s before I put the 427 MTI C5R engine in it.
