Smilies can't be found
The "posting Rules" box indicates smilies are"on" but I can't find them anywhere when I post responses to a thread. Nor can I find them now for adding to this thread. They were here for me to use a couple of weeks ago but have since disappeared. Have I inadvertently switched them off? If so, how do I get them back? I'd like to be able to add them to responses or threads. Thanks!

Next is to try deleting your temporary internet files from your browser.

Still no smilies
I've done all you suggested, plus restarted the computer. Still no smilies. Am I perhaps overlooking the obvious? Where should I be looking for the smilies option when posting a reply or a thread?

They're back! Problem solved, thank you for your input.
Changing the setting on the Message Editor Interface to
"Standard Editor-extra formatting control" was the key.
