I have an Iphone. I download the app a week ago. It never worked for me either. I have a new problem now. As you all know when you subscribe to a thread you get notification of a post with a link via email. I was able to click on the link and it would take me to the post on the forum. For the past couple of days when clicking the link I have been getting "Safari cannot open the page because the server cannot be found". I deleted the app and am still getting the same message.

For now I can not access the forums to reply to a message from my iphone.

There isn't currently and A or CNAME record defined for "m" in the corvetteforum.com domain. Depending on how the domain is managed, this could be something setup/managed in cpanel with a provider, or if you're an old Unix/Linux hat like myself the DNS zone files need to be updated.

Typically the Zone serial number (2013122612) is an indication of the date and version of the change (Dec 26, 2013 revision 12) this would indicate someone likely changed something yesterday (though serialnumbers don't have to indicate a datestamp, so long as they're sequential in order.)
Looks like they are using godaddy () according to a whois lookup. I guess someone was messing around in the DNS tabs unfortunately.

My main way to browse the forum is with an RSS reader on my phone so this is really inconvenient for me so far. Hope it gets resolved soon.

There is no known issue with the mobile app. Note this thread is about the mobile skin and it's specific domain that is no longer available (at this time). If you have a specific issue with the mobile app, you might want to start a new thread since it's not related to this thread and the mobile skin. The two are completely different.

I don't have any updates at this time beyond that it has been reported. Only a few know the answer to what and why on this topic and I wasn't one of them. I'm waiting for a response.

The issue will occur for everyone trying to use the mobile skin "Lightweight".

The forums are still accessible through the mobile app, which is available through Google Play, or through the normal desktop/full version. When the mobile skin was released, so many people wanted a "real app" - which has now been available and still works - that I'm surprised some are still using the old mobile skin "Lightweight" instead of the "real app".

So long as you are aware of it. I think the issues are related. I can only click through to the thread from the link that comes from an email notification from my desk top. I can no longer do it on my Iphone.

If you're trying to access the site through a browser on a device that is set to use the Mobile Skin "Lightweight", which is set in your browser through a cookie, when you click on any link you'll probably be taken to the Mobile Skin "Lightweight" as long as the device is configured for it. That's not using the Mobile App. It doesn't sound like you're accessing the site through the Mobile App by clicking on those links - which opens in a browser on your device. The Mobile App and Mobile Skin are two very different things. There is no known issue with the Mobile App and it's still working correctly for me.

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing. I've been clicking through the link in an email from my iphone for many years. As of December 26 this stopped working. I can't get through to the thread on Corvetteforums any longer. You know that part in the email that says "This thread is located at: followed by the location. It says Safari can not find the page because the server cannot be found. It first loads forum.corvetteforum.com then redirects to corvetteforum.com.

If you google "corvetteforum" on your iphone and click on the "Forum" option is says the same thing. something is preventing the forum section from being reached from my mobile device. I'm not sure if the same thing happens with a android.

It can't be just my iphone can it???

I just downloaded the mobile app again IB Auto Group? I hope that's the right one. I doesn't recognize my user name or password. I'm on try 4 of 5. Is it asking me to register on IB Auto Group? or enter my corvetteforum user name and password?

It looks like it goes to mcorvetteforum.com? Whats the M? Then it boots me out...........

Jim

I understand and we are talking about the same thing.

As I said, the Mobile Skin "Lighweight" and Mobile App are two different things. When you click on a link inside an email, such as the email notifications, you are opening the browser on your mobile device to view the website. You are not using the Mobile App when you click on a link in an email.

You must have opted in for the Mobile Skin "Lightweight" when you use your mobile device's browser. That option is set in your browser's cookies. So when you click on a link from an email, or click on CorvetteForum through a Google web search, you're using the browser on your mobile device - not the Mobile App - and it's configured to use the Mobile Skin "Lightweight". And the Mobile Skin "Lightweight" is currently not functioning.

Therefore, there is no issue with the Mobile App. You're simply not using the Mobile App when you click on links in emails or web searches as you're using the browser on your mobile device instead.

As far as the Mobile App not accepting your password, note that passwords are CaSe sensitive. It sounds like you have the correct app but you aren't entering the correct username and password for CorvetteForum or you're trying to access CorvetteForums. Make sure you're trying to access CorvetteForum. There's also a CorvetteForums - which is NOT the same despite both are owned by IB.

Per JT (Administrative Contributor) Above:
"Note this thread is about the mobile skin and it's specific domain that is no longer available (at this time)."
---------------
I'm sure they will fix the DNS issue that is causing this problem.

As noted by many others in this thread, I have been using the mobile skin for a long time as its so much easier IMO to get to the forum and read posts on a "Smart Phone" as compared to using the Mobile APP.

Thanks JT for the updates!

The mobile app is not working either, at least not on my iPhone or iPad.

Connection error: The operation couldn't be completed. (kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork error 2.)

Checking back for an update, Mobile skin still not working. This is the main avenue I use to check in on the forum.

Thanks,

The mobile app is working. The issues being discussed in this thread are regarding the mobile skin using a specific domain through your browser. The mobile app does not use your browser.

The error message that you posted does appear to be from the mobile app, however, it may be a temporary issue or maybe even a network issue between you and the server. It is not related to the mobile skin issue that is being discussed in this thread - which is broken for everyone and started around the 26th.

I just rechecked the mobile app and I'm still seeing normal results.

Again, the mobile skin, using the custom domain through your browser, is still offline and (to be honest) I doubt it will be resolved until atleast Monday.

Screenshot of the mobile app still working for me. If yours isn't, then it may be a network issue between you and the server or with your installation. If you continue to have issues with the mobile app, please create a new thread as this thread is regarding the mobile skin and the two are completely different. Thanks

Your screen capture is showing Safari, a web browser, that can't connect as it's likely trying to use the Mobile Skin "Lightweight" and its specific web address. It is not the mobile app.

Until the issue is resolved, you can either 1) use the Mobile App or 2)clear your CorvetteForum cookies (logging out is not the same) in your web browser (Safari) and revisit the website and decline the Mobile Skin "Lightweight" prompt and simply use the full desktop skin.

JT - I'm not sure that clearing cookies is sufficient. Once cookies are cleared, I was able to access the forums.... until logging in. Once you login, it sets the cookie back and redirects you to m.corvetteforum.com again and you're locked out again (this was true on Safari/Firefox on Mac). I had an old Chrome session logged in on my work PC that's been working fine so I changed the option in my profile and now things are fine on the other systems. Maybe Chrome will work for others running into the same issue.
