What the f is the deal with the pop ups on this site now. I keep getting the Michelin man ads popping up every time I come on this forum. It takes up a 1/4 of my screen and will not go off. I've had this problem on 2 different computers. It's a PIA. my cause me to stop coming here as often! Just my rant!
If it's a true pop-up, send us a screen-capture and click-through link and we'll investigate for removal. I don't believe there has been any policy change on not allowing pop-up ads. They either occur due to a rogue ad or malware on the member's machine.
First thing that happened my computer froze up, and then I got a notice that said C.F. was not responded do to a long running script. Then the forum shut the browser down.
Brought up another browser and got the fat boy in the upper right hand side and saw no way to get rid of it. Got what I could from it by hitting proprieties

Nope, not the members machine - I've been getting this ad as well.
For the past several days, I have been getting a Michelin ad popping up from the right side of the screen- as Jeff has indicated above . . .most of the time, it has an X to close the ad, but I thought as a paying member, we were absolved from this sort of stuff. My pop up blocker is on- malware detection is current, etc.
It's not a terrible thing, but it's sure a pain . . . .
thanks for any help.
NOTE: Doesn't seem to be happening this evening - -thank you !
Same here - just in the last two days, I get that Michelin slide-in ad from the right, but only the bottom 2/3 of it is visible, so there's no "X" to make it go away. I have to get out of the thread entirely to lose it. Win7/IE9.
The issue was reported to the advertising team last week. They were working on trying to determine which third-party advertiser the pop-ups were coming from so they could remove them.
It speeds up the process when you can provide a screenshot and a URL on the pop-ups.

Been getting it for the last few days on my Ipad.
