Default Clutch diameter

1969 Corvette conv., M20 Muncie 4 speed manual transmission

Parts stores show two diameter clutch discs, 11" and 10.4". Which is the correct diameter? Why do they show two diameters?

all performance motors received the 11" clutch, ..either will fit.
make sure you have the correct clutch spline also. (the center hole)
you should get an alignment tool also to make installation easier.

Actually, I think it's the other way. HiPo got smaller, lighter, flywheel, ergo, smaller dia clutch. YMMV.

I've been looking at this recently for my '69. The 350 had the 10.4" clutch with the 153 tooth flywheel. The big block had the 11" clutch with the 168 tooth flywheel. You need the flywheel teeth to match your starter. Don't forget to have your flywheel resurfaced or get a new flywheel (they're pretty cheap now - a LUK flywheel on Amazon is $60).

L88s use a lightweight 15 lb. flywheel with a 10.4 diameter diaphragm clutch and pressure plate. PN 3991406.

68-327's use the 10.5" clutch and stock 350's use the 11" clutch. Lou.

I think that the L88s used a dual clutch, if I am not mistaken. Lou.
