When will a ZR1 specific sub-section be created?
Not sure why we have a c8 or me or whatever it's called but a knows car coming out that we knew for awhile doesn't already have one..2 part question and I asked these in a respectful manner

There's a C8 section so there's a place for C8 related topics that will naturally come since this the premier Corvette Forum website and the car will eventually exist. When the C8 is released, the section will continue to grow.
Subsections are generally not added unless there's enough traffic and content to warrant it.

The tech folks set up a prefix so site users can designated that the thread/s they are posting are related to the C7 ZR1. That allows the capability to toggle the directory in C7 sections to show all content or just content related to ZR1s.
If that shows there is enough traffic to warrant a separate sub-section for C7 ZR1s, we can then easily set up the section and migrate all threads with the ZR1 prefix to it.
We no longer have a ZR1 sub-section in the C6 section. Traffic had fallen off to the point the C6 ZR1 sub-section was overwhelmed by vendor sale threads, making it appear that the section was static. Our experience shows when that happens, site users stop checking the section because they no longer believe they will find anything new since they last checked.
We want to avoid a similar situation in C7s. So, if C7 ZR1 traffic increases to the point we can set up a separate sub-section, it also could occur at some point down the line that we'd have to combine the C7 ZR1 sub-section with another sub-section. In C6, we combined ZR1 and Z06, using prefixes to allow a sort on the content shown.
We may have to come back and do a similar consolidation with prefixes in the C4 section. There were three C4 ZR-1 threads active today compared to eight in C6 ZR1 and thirty something in C7 ZR1.

The "exclude ZR1" sorting option works BUT IT UNWORKS when I look at a thread and all of the ZR1 stuff reappears.
Help?

It depends on how you browse.
For example if you specify ZR1 only threads, then prefixid=zr1 is appended to the URL in the address bar and this will follow you as you move through page numbers of that forum. Additionally, if you view a thread and then use the back button, you should return to the URL with the appended prefixid=zr1.
But if you use one of the main links to return back to the forum, rather than the back button, or if you use any other link inside or outside, the prefixid=zr1 gets dropped. And it has to if you want to be able to view other content on CorvetteForum. If that appended prefix remained throughout the forum, no content would display if there wasn't an actual ZR1 prefix section.
I suppose a future suggestion would be if the software made the above setting a cookie instead of part of the URL so that it always remembers the selection. However, that's currently not an available option in the software.

I see what you mean, however, if I press the "back" button, I don't see the thread that I just read showing that it has been read. It still looks new to me. I click on the link under what I read to return to the forum thread list and the thread is "read" but the ZR1 stuff blossoms up again. It needs to be a cookie to hold the ZR1 stuff off to the side.
I just went to the forum, excluded the ZR1 threads, went into three threads and hit the back key "out" of each thread. Yes, ZR1 is still hidden but the 3 threads that I "read" still show "unread" with a new post. So if I skip around instead of reading every thread in order, all of the threads look unread. I believe they need to be read in order for me to be able to skip threads that don't interest me. Really needs a separate forum or the "sort" function needs to be a cookie.

That is probably because your browser is pulling a cached version of the page when you use the back button. Because those threads was marked as unread when you first visited that page and then you use the back button to return to that page your browser is simply pulling that very same data back to you. If you hit the refresh button it should update.

There's got to be an easier way to browse this site without that hassle...
BTW, when I hit back and click on "Hide the glut of ZR1 stuff", it refreshes the page and hides everything. Gotta be an easier way to do this.
