I've been uploading photos all the time. But today it wants me to enter a url.

There's a current topic regarding some pictures not loading correctly:

This does not appear to be the same issue as you. I was able to upload without required URL. I'd first suggest you clear your browser's cache. If issue still continues, either wait (in the slim chance it's related to the aforementioned) or post a screen capture showing your issue. You can use the Legacy Attachment Manager to post the screen capture.
