My latest experience with Amazon popups, etc
I had major problems with my apple products using Safari being taken over by those malware Amazon contest screen takeover popups that rendered my devices useless for working on the CF last year. There’s one long thread in here about it, that eventually mentioned the success of content blocker apps. I tried NeverAds and it worked perfectly, and I never had a problem after that.
With this, some other sites external links, etc were blocked as well. I could not watch videos on NHL.com any more. So today I experimented by taking off the NeverAds app and the videos did in fact start working. Unfortunately almost immediately the attacks started again on CF, and by this evening my iPad was again unusable for the Forum.
It seems NeverAds is no longer available which was upsetting. I reviewed that long thread here, and found people also had luck with Adblock Plus. I actually started to write this OP but I was unable to stay on the forum long enough. I went out and added Adblock Plus and the problem was immediately solved.
Just FYI if anyone if struggling with the problem on Safari. Here’s the screenshots of when I was trying to type this post before I downloaded the app:

So, is the problem with Corvetteforum, Apple or Safari?
I don't have any ad blockers installed on any of my non-Apple devices because I want to have the same experience that other users have on the site. The only time I experience an increase in advertising on Corvetteforum is when I'm not signed on to the site. I don't view that as a bad thing because it encourages people to sign in so they get the full benefit of the site.
It's the advertising, of course, that pays for the significant bandwidth the site users and keeps it free for the the users.

Similar problems were also experienced by Galaxy owners, I believe. JT has been juggling the threads on this for quite some time, so he probably can answer that better. I have not experienced the problem at any time other than when I’m on CF. I don’t know if it’s the forum, the ads contracted to the forum, the devices, the browser, or what.
I personally don’t have a problem with ads, either. I’ve never used an Adblock program any other time in any application. Ads don’t bother me like they seem to bother other people. But I reached the point where I could not use the forum at all without the fake award popups taking over my system. First the Amazon ones, and now a year later the moment I removed the blocker, the A T and T ones.
If if I did not replace the adblocker program, I would not be able to use the iPad at all on the forum.

This was one of the threads with the extended discussion. That would mean a number of people have malware in their devices, which, could be possible.

The ads on the site have http redirects embedded inside of them. When mobile safari loads the picture it reads the redirect and processes it.
The scumbag ad makers are the problem but it's really out of your control to stop them.

Apologies for the unwanted redirects, everyone. As a few of you have already noted, they are occurring due to a malicious ad unintentionally being served by one of our ad partners. The ad loads like a normal banner ad should, but then includes a line of code that redirects your entire browser to a new site. We have tools in place to block such ads and can continue to improve their accuracy with more information on the ones you're seeing. When you're next redirected, please post a screenshot of where you're taken here in this thread, as well as a screenshot of any pop-up message you may receive before the redirect occurs.
Thanks!
Thanks!

FWIW, I am also seeing the redirects on other IB sites, such at www.thehulltruth.com. As others mentioned, the problem will go away for a month, then reappear with such frequency that you cannot use an Apple product to access IB web sites.

first pop up was this:
selected “cancel” and was taken here:

It's happening every couple of minutes today at both this site and www.thehulltruth.com. One interesting characteristic -- when the second screen with the gift boxes is displayed, press and hold the back button to display Safari's browsing history. Somehow they've filled up the history with 15 occurrences of that giftbox page.
If you are in the first occurrence of the 'hijack', scroll down and you'll see the CFOT page you were visiting before the hijack. But, you will soon be hijacked again -- this time the browsing history is completely full of their bogus page links.
FWIW, I am also seeing the same pop-ups appearing on my iDevices when I access the site www.villages-news.com -- a site that is not owned by IB nor is it a forum.

I hope they find the sob’s ad soon. I have to close out completely this time. It was difficult to even post to the help forum on my iPad.

Thanks for the additional screenshots and details. We're continuing to work with our partners to isolate and remove these ads. It can be a bit of a game of whack-a-mole, but we hope to have it fully resolved as soon as we can.

My iPhone has been execptionally terrible with this problem as of late. It was a big problem last year, went away and now we’re back. Practically make CF inaccessible.
For those suffering with iPhones, after the ad pops up, if you hold lightly over the back button it should pull up the history after a second or so. Select the CF page you were on and it’ll bring you back. Just know that if that same ad loads it’ll do it again.

I have had continuous problems with Corvetteforum and these annoying pop-up ads. It happens on both my iPad and my iPhone. It only happens on Corvetteforums. It got so bad, that I had to turn off JavaScript. It’s an inconvenience for sure, but this is a 100% cure for these annoying pop-ups until IB can figure out a way to stop them.
