When I was 20...nine years ago, I was dating a fantastic girl in her first year of college. She was 18, and an amazing girl, like you describe your daughter to be. She was away with her family for Thanksgiving break, and was killed in a car accident. Her and her older brother were going to the mall for gifts for their parents, and a drunk driver in an old heavy pick up truck knocked them off the road into a ravine under a bridge. They were both killed instantly.
I finally heard what had happened almost a full week after the accident.
I remember dropping the phone, and trying to steady myself, but I was no match for the spinning and racing heart and I just collapsed. Had been with her for a year.
I am not a parent, so I cannot even begin to fathom how you feel losing someone so close. I can however, relate to your pain from a different point of view. We were together for about a year when that happened.
I'm so sorry for your loss, and my condolences go out to you, your family, and all her friends. I hope she didn't leave a boyfriend behind, as I would know his position best, and he'll be hurting a LOT too.

In her 19 years, she only had 2 boyfriends as she was more concentrated on her studies. Her boyfriend of 5 months was the driver of the vehicle she was in. They were so much in love and were coming home from time at the beach to celebrate their anniversary. They were taken to separate hospitals and we had to break the news to him the following day. He's devastated as much as we are, they were both 19 yrs old from the same university.
Stay close to him...he needs your help right now.

I have 2 daughters 18 and 20 currently attending university. Both are very much into their studies and working hard for their future. I cannot imagine the pain you are feeling or begin to put into words the frustration and horror of such terrible tradgedy for all of us. Our prayers are with her and with you and family.

In college, I got several M.A.D.D. presentations. I remember being sad and angry every time. I can't even begin to fathom how you must feel and your feelings towards the opposing driver.
Please put up one of those symbols by the side of the road; that way she'll be remembered by more and a constant reminder to all. I try to give a salute whenever I see one. I know it's not much.
My sister is a chemical engineer and all I can say wow, they are smart. Did she have a favorite profession/company in mind?
Please know that we are all here for you. I would visit if I were on the west coast.

I'm so sorry and and please except my condolences.
I have a 16 year old daughter & 14 year old son. This is also my wife & my biggest fear as my daughter approaches driving age. I can only imagine what you're family is going through.
Hopefully justice will be served here and our prayers are with you.

So sorry for your loss
I am the father of two boys, 17 and 22, and as previously mentioned by others, this is my biggest fear. My dad's brother was killed when he was 16 and my dad to this day still can't talk about it - he's in his 80s.
I will say a prayer for her and all of you.

I am a father of 5 and could not imagine what you could be feeling with this tragity.
I read your post and when I read that your Daughter was a Chemical Engineering Major I shuddered. My 18 year old Daughter Just received acceptance to K-State for Chemical Engineering.
My family and I will make prayer for you and your family.
