I too thought of this thread...it has stayed in my mind and I remind myself that life is for living.
My daughter in law, age 34 has stage 4 liver cancer; there is no good prognosis. Yet she lives each and every day with humor, grace, and courage. I imagine Ryan was much like her.

May be a enlightening post in such a thread, but in Ryan's honor I am carrying the torch. As some may know, but I was one of Ryan's best friends and was there through his struggle, and ultimately one of his brothers that laid him to rest. I made a promise to Ry that I would finish his car, and due to circumstances out of my control, it may not be in his exact z06 like originally planned, but I'm doing this for you buddy!

Well, I never ventured into this section before because I have a hard time accepting the reality of life being something finite. I read the first post and I read the last page. All I can say is I am happy to see that the connection we share as humans is alive and well. Something on a much deeper level than all that is tangible.
8 years later the post is alive in the spirit of the love we have for each other from near and far, and the passion we share for our automotive hobby.
God bless you all, make the best of each day it truly is a gift.

Ryan, Thank you for taking the time to post your thanks and thoughts during what must be an incredibly hard time for you and your Family. I'm not sure I would have even thought much about anyone other than my close Family. My Buddy of 35 years lost his wife on Friday night to cancer, she was 50, so this post comes to me at a time of reflection. I enjoyed your spirit through your words and wish you the best in your eternal journey... who knows, there may that Corvette event on the other side and we may meet sitting in a mid-engine Corvette Take Care!

Every so often, this thread gets replied to and brings it back to the top. When it does, it reminds us of how this brave, young man continues to live on here. There is no self pity, only a brave face to look to each day and to encourage others.
No one can get through this with a dry eye.

It is almost 8 years ago, and this thread has become a memorial to a man far beyond his years.
Hug those you love today, keep them close to you, and remember that life is far too precious to waste it over petty issues.

Yozi, my condolences to you and your friend on your loss, and my condolences and sympathies to the friends and family of Ryan. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but you don't have to meet someone to be inspired. I'm new here, and I'm new to owning a corvette, but going through these posts, going through the prayers and the love and the wishes of the members of this community, makes me happy to be here, to be a part of such a great people. Though it's been 8 years since Ryans passing, I wish his family, his friends, and his loved ones the best and send my prayers their way. Ryan was a brave man, and I'm sure he's looking down over y'all from that big track in the clouds. Ryan, you inspire me, through your bravery and your determination to enjoy the life you had, to live my life the best I can, to do the things I want and to spend as much time as I can with those I'm lucky to have in my life.
Thank you, Ryan Salmons, for the fight you fought, the lives you've touched and the legacy you've left behind. Rest In Peace

Wow.... My heart and prayers go out to Ryan and his family, I would like to articulate the feelings and emotions I'm experiencing right now as well as possible albeit I'm afraid, I'm just not good at doing so. 19 years old..... What a truly astounding young man and human being.
May God grant you eternal peace.

It may have been many years but Ryan has left an everlasting impression on those who knew of his valiant struggle and acceptance of his fate.

Ryan,
It’s been a long time since I’ve been on the forum. So long in fact that my account was deactivated and I had to create a new one just to reply to this thread. 9 years ago on that next to last day you thanked me for the cruises, museum visit, etc. I told you then that your impact on me was far greater than mine on you. I still feel that way. You singlehandedly managed to change my view on life and being unselfish.
For Cory, John, Barry, Brad, Susan, Mark T., Deb Red, the West MI folks that drove all the way to QSL at Polaris for one lunch with Ryan, all the folks that showed up for that cruise from the high school to Mary Kelly’s restaurant, those that donated for the brick.......I sincerely hope you’re all doing well.
I don’t know what became of Ryan’s Torch Z06. I know his grandfather had it after Ryan passed and his father attempted to buy it. If anyone knows now, I’d love to know where it is now.
Lastly, not sure if this pic will post correctly, but here’s Ryan Salmons April 11, 2009. A great man, bad *** ride!
