Journey is to an end!
The last of the four sisters died Saturday at my home.
They grew up in the midwest during the early 1900's. Rode a horse and buggy into town 10 miles away.
Grandpa died at 30 years old. The cold hard elements of the winter weather got him! Grandma raised the kids by herself. The Sisters grew up and became nurses and educator's. Starting out with a small sum on their on
The sisters retired with a combined 140 years working for the pubic schools. This aunt had been issued a Educator of the year by
the State of Oregon school system. She has no less than 5 degree's
of education
I gotta be so lucky to have had this time. Since late 2005 my Auntie has been my guide. My Mom and Dad were gone time I hit 34.
After during a visit , after seeing her living like a hermit . No sewer working, bathtub was even backed up. No washing clothes either.
Her husband then her 20 year companion had been outlived. She seem to have lost her zest for life.
She was someone that still had her 1963 Mercury Meteor S-33
black with a
260 v-8 69k miles 2 door red leather. Which I restored!
To haul her to doctor and dentist appts.
Plus a few in my 2002 Z06
She was watching TV on a 1992 Zenith 19 inch TV on some 2 by 4's
with no air conditioning and the rest of the house in poor shape. With no kids and no other kin left!
I knew she needed me. When the neighbor said they were (the state)
was ready to do something after she was found in the bushes after 5 hours.
I took her 1700 miles to my home. Where we stayed 6 months or so until I transfered my job back west. We returned and I restored her house inside and out then restored her beachhouse then we bought another home.
She had now her own housekeeper and later homecare aid. Her life completely changed. Some of this money she saved so hard was spent on her . Three 50 inch TV's for her to choose with sound systems.
She regained her zest for life and pride. She enjoyed life again until
she passed just short of 97 years old. The heart attack and blood clots all in 2012 weakened her.
She is so sorely missed. I used to brag about my mother and the 3 sisters since I was a small child. Now there all gone.

Bob, sorry to hear about your Aunt. I am sure you made her very happy over these last years of her life. Today is the anniversary of the passing of my dad. I still miss him a lot and not a day goes by that I don't think of him. Times like these are never easy, its all part of life but it still sucks.
