English Jr., Robert C. 63 - of Laureldale passed away on December 6, 2012 in a SCUBA diving accident in Truk Lagoon in Micronesia.
Rob was raised in Northfield NJ and other than while serving in the US Army he has been a resident of New Jersey. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Edie English, his son Robert C English III of Pleasantville NJ, and brothers Dennis English of Estill Springs Tenn. and Jeffrey (Kathy) English of Sweetwater NJ.
Rob enjoyed Corvettes and SCUBA diving with his wife Edie, and autocross and target shooting with his son Rob. He was a well known Corvette restoration specialist. His 23 years of Corvette restorations received many NCRS Top Flight awards and auto show trophies. He was also a member of Boardwalk Corvettes Club for 28 years where he participated in the Club’s fundraisers for local charities.
While serving in the US Army, Rob was stationed in Lop Buri Thailand as a Communications Specialist assigned to the 46th Special Forces Company. In 2003 Rob and his wife Edie returned to Lop Buri. That trip resulted in becoming a member of the 46th Special Forces Company (Airborne) Association (46th SFCA) non-profit that supports 26 remote schools throughout Thailand. Since then, they have continued their trips to Thailand every other year. As a member of the 46th SFCA, Rob also supported the non-profit’s semi-annual Wounded Warrior Cruises that host ocean cruises for Purple Heart recipients. Due to his trips to Thailand, Rob and his wife decided to become certified SCUBA divers. That decision led Rob to continue his diving achievements to become a Dive Master and an assistant team leader for the Township of Hamilton Underwater Search and Recovery Team.
Robert will be remembered as a caring husband, father, brother and friend.
