John Z always would take the time to answer any question you would have especially when it came to C2's ! A very nice gentleman that was such a great resource. He will be truly missed, RIP John!

I met him at the NCRS when it was still being held at Old Town.
Super nice guy and the Forum will certainly miss his expertise.

We lost a legend of the sport. I reached out to John on several occasions for advice on my corvettes. He was always the first to respond and never made you feel like you were asking a silly question (although some of mine were rather off the wall). I will miss his expertise and his willingness to halp all of us, at any time. Heart felt condolences go out to his family. I hope they realize what an impact he had on all of us. God Speed.

I'm a bit late, just getting back to the Forum and all, but I saw John's memorial here and thought I'd say something.
My first contact with JohnZ was actually with Snake488, if any of you remember his AOL address. That goes back aways. We were on the Corvette Restoration and Preservation List and I think he had popped into Vettenet back then, too. Those crazy days of listservers. LOL I was surprised one day when John asked me for some information. I don't remember what it was, but I thought he knew everything about old Corvettes at the time. Odds are he knew so much, he forgot he knew it.
John was a regular both here and on the NCRS discussion board, and always willing to help. I was amazed at his patience with some. Of course, that is what made John special.
He truly was one of the good guys. For all he knew, he gladly shared it with everyone. I remember the first time I actually met him in person at the NCRS Winter Regional long ago. I forgot who he was with but I remember telling him he can't possibly be John Hinckley, he was far too short. I remember them looking at me funny, and I went on that I thought he had to be about 7 foot tall with all the stuff he knew and had done.
I miss those days of all the guys at Old Town. It was good to hang out with everyone.
And I remember the "John is dead" thread on here, which I'm sure made him wonder. I don't remember how that got started, but it was clearly was much too premature. I think everyone felt bad about that, everyone offering condolences and all. Of course, he did get to read all those and found out how we all felt about him.
And many relieved to find he was still kicking and among us.
I don't get upset with people not finding anything on him, like some do, as I remember on one forum years ago where everyone was doing Yahoo and Google searches on themselves, to be sure no one was finding information to steal about them. John had laughed and said there was some other guy named John Hinckley and it would take reading through about 500,000 entries before anyone actually found the one and only JohnZ.
No one lives forever, so all we can hope for is to be remembered after we are gone.
I'm sure many will remember John for a long time.
