Obituary for Eric Paul Henry Close
Eric Paul Henry Close, 47, passed away at home on Sunday March 31, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. He was born December 10, 1965 in Fresno, CA to Morris and Doris Close. Before Eric’s 4th birthday the Close family moved to Fremont and Eric called it home until he and Suzanne moved to Tracy 1 year ago. For the last 16 years Eric worked as a sales manager for Wilson Bicycle Sales.
Eric was full of life, a thoughtful and loving family man with an enormous heart. He treasured his family dearly and was very happy to have married into a large family. He enjoyed the little things in life; reading, road trips, camping and traveling; but his true passion was Corvettes and tracking them.
Eric leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Suzanne Close of Tracy; step-sons Jonathan Handall and wife Sarah of Bremerton, WA and Alexander Handall of Tracy. Grandson Joshua T. Handall of Bremerton, WA; parents Morris and Doris Close of Fremont; sister Cathy Olivieri and husband Richard and niece Heather Olivieri all of Fresno. He also leaves behind his extended family, In-laws Margean White, Jeffrey White, Paul White, Brian & Lisa White all of Fremont; Julia Pickett of Campbell; Bruce & Monica White of Pleasanton; David & Cynthia White of Spring Grove, MO and many nieces and nephews.
Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 South Central Avenue, Tracy, is honored to serve the Close family. They will be welcoming family & friends on Friday, April 5th from 1-5:00pm for visitation. Funeral Services will then follow on Saturday, April 6th at 1:00pm. Memorial donations can be made in Eric’s name to American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204. An online guest book is also available at www.frymemorialchapel.com for condolences and special messages.

I too will miss Eric, after many times meeting with him his humor always made my day. Never a better friend.. Always ended his conversations with me.. "Luv ya Bro!'.. Easter Sunday was a very sad day but knowing what company he had on his journey to heaven, makes it a little easier.
Luv ya bro!!.. Miss ya!!

I just saw this thread, and it saddens me to hear about Eric's passing. He was a true Corvette brother, who would help anyone who needed a hand with their ride. A true gentleman, he will be greatly missed. RIP my friend.

I last talked to E-Vette as I called him a couple weeks ago shortly after he began hospice. Immediately after saying hi to me he asked about my woman (who is dealing with her own recurence of cancer).
I told him she was doing fine, but really................I called to check on you Bro. He chuckled & said oh yeah, then ran down his situation and expectation of a brief outlook to me & then said "other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"
These two things typify Eric Close the man; his concern for others above himself, and his unfailing sense of humor. Two things are true now that weren't last week: #1 is the world is a lesser place with Eric gone, but #2 is I'm a better man having known him & calling him a friend until the end.
May God Bless you & keep you brotha........you're always with me in my heart & we'll cruise again!
